WHAT is the role of Satan - he, above all, should know that he can't beat God.
Are the Christians mistaken in their view of Satan?
(I don't remember much of an argument about that apple coming from Adam or Eve - or Lilith)

The Christians are indeed mistaken in their view of Satan. Satan is not trying to "beat God". Satan can't make a move without God's permission. He was given a mission and he is doing a mighty fine job. Satan's role is to waylay the soul as long as possible by tempting them with their passions and desires, to ensure that they do not ascend back into the kingdom of Heaven until they are absolutely, positively ready to *give up* their passions and desires for higher goals.

A role, like a participation is God's plan? Not sure about that. You're right, Satan is beat and he knows it. I wouldn't call him a testor or tempter, even though he does those things. I would call him pure, permanent evil. What I'm trying to say is that if I called him a testor, it's like saying he's actually a good guy simply putting us through obstacle courses for us to prove our worthiness before God. That is incorrect. Satan wants us to get to heaven like I want to die in a car wreck tomorrow.

He's beaten and he knows it. Now, all he wants is to take as many of us with him as he can - men, women, children, the unborn, doesn't matter. This is the kind of evil we're dealing with. He attacks when you're too young to know what's happening to you, too young to understand, and too young to even defend youself. No mercy. Just think of the most defenseless of them all: the unborn.

Hope this helps. God bless.

He's a "tester." Someone who makes people better (hopefully) by showing them their strengths and weakness through testing them for God. The word "satan" means "someone who stands against God, or liar." So, he stands opposite of God, a "yin and yang" kind of thing. Seeing where the people line up inbetween.

I think the role of satan is to tempt believers and when/if they turn away from him, that can draw those people closer to God.

No they are not, The role of Satan is to defeat the Lord and to scare the good people.

Don't ask stupid questions. Christianity doesn't allow you to have an inquisitive mind and critical thinking skills. Just have faith. Don't try to learn stuff and be smart. It's not the Christian way.
