I've made the trip several times before, but the traffic from Woodbridge to Springfield is terrible! Been that way for 20 years that I know of. I'll be driving from Raleigh, NC to Severn, MD and wondering if there's a way to bypass the outer loop / I-95 permanent traffic jam. If not, when (if any) is the best time to get through that area? I know for sure that it's not during the afternoon on ANY day.

That stretch is rough try to avoid it at rush hour. I can't think of any other way to go that won't take as long.
