I read comments from atheists saying that Christians push our beliefs down your throats...how are they doing so? I am a Christian, and I don't push my beliefs down anyone's throat, unless you count when I answer questions here.

And are you really angry with Christians, or just what we believe in?

I'm not angry at Christians in general, or what you believe in.

I have no problem with Christians who just want to discuss their faith, or even those who want to attempt to persuade me. It's not like they're hounding me all the way from the house to the car, on the interstate, and at work. It happens occasionally (very occasionally, since I pretty much keep my views to myself in life).

What I do have a problem with are groups of Christians who want to legislate their beliefs into my daily life. Groups who lobby Congress, or who are politicians, who want to make laws regarding what is taught in a science classroom, whether or not a woman has the legal right to make up her own mind about an abortion, or who stand in the way of important medical or scientific research.

That said, Christians don't have the power to make my life miserable, only I do. I usually choose not to use that power.

Some Christians need to give it a rest on the question "Have you found Jesus yet? I always want to give the answer from the "Forrest Gump" move: "I didn't know I was suppose to be looking for him".

I'm not an atheist, but have always been on a Spiritual quest. I enjoy it. I am a believer in many different religions. I don't want to convert anyone. I believe everyone has the personal freedom to make their own choice; and I don't feel threatened if some one chooses to believe differently than I do.

I don't know any christians, actually. I suspect some haven't taken the step from Agnosticism to Atheism, but that's it.

However, if a person then IS a christian, one can tell. For example, in national service we had this guy who read the bible every evening, and then when he got the chance had all 200 of us standing while he delivered some kind of speech that probably was really sympathetic if not for the fact the lack of air and the amount heat generated of standing crushed up for 20 minutes.

Through the laws and government. If you are christian you will find it hard to see.
I want my kids to learn the truth about life without some silly school teacher putting forward their primitve superstitous view.
Simply allowing 'Sex drugs and rock n roll' is not good enough for me and many other atheist.
We must also make sure that the theocracy they want does not ever come back.
Christianity is the biggest group encouraging ignorance that spills other to many other areas in our lives.
Teaching people born here, that there is an eternal lake of fire waiting for them if they dont believe in Jesus, is Child abuse
They also largely vote for complete fools, and win
How many of you dummys would have voted for Ted Haggard,Jimmy swaggart,Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and the list goes on. You should be thanking God there are atheist, we all know that moderate christian dont like to 'pass judgement' and therefore find it hard to draw conclusions about such morons, because they want an open mind et etc and would do NOTHING to stop christian madness. Just ask the native americans.

Miserable? Never
Irritating? Yes

I'm getting really tired of reminding the school system that god has been banned. The bright side is I always win. Why those christian teachers think they can sneak god in through music or story-telling is beyond me. They are proving their hypocrisy by breaking the law when they do this.

just as not all christians try to convert others not all athiests are bothered by your beliefs.

Some may have difficulty dealing with being a minority in christian america and feel that thier values and oppinions are not represented in govt or social discourse.

You can believe whatever you want. I don't much care.

I care when people knock on my door to peddle their religion. I care when people follow me down the street trying to talk about their religion (that's happened 4 times this year). I care when the religious try to ban gay marriage, and ban abortion. I care when the religious try to get prayer to be said in schools and when they try to force the teaching of Creationism/Intelligent Design.

I care, because they ARE trying to force their religion on other people.

Maybe YOU don't try to force anyone to believe but I had the only openly Wiccan store in my town close down because Christians picketted outside and harassed their clientelle when they were trying to enter the store until the store went bankrupt because the Wiccans got tired of the harassment. And the Christians got away with it because all they were doing was "handing out pamphlets and letting people know god cares" (re: telling everyone that entered that they were going to hell and following them down the street preaching).

So yes, it happens. Whether some Christians would like to realize it or not.

It's your pushiness and your need to convince us that you are right and we are wrong. Your blind faith is irritating because most of us have common sense and logical reasoning. We do not appreciate you yelling "Jesus loves you" and crap like that. How the hell do you know if he loves me or not. You have no way of knowing that, so don't say that. Your judgmental nature and your nature to excluded non-Christians is irritating as hell. Just because we are not Christians, it does not mean we are bad people and it does not mean we should be treated as heathens.

I think leading my country into an illegal war justified on religious grounds is pretty annoying. Attempting to introduce lies in place of education in schools is pretty annoying. Getting me out of my armchair to answer the door to be asked if I've heard the good news is obviously less annoying, but it's annoying nevertheless. I'm not angry with what Christians believe, just what THOSE Christians believe they can DO.

And your blinkered defensiveness for those who DO obviously enforce their beliefs on others... is pretty annoying.

As an Atheist I can say the reason I personally dislike religion in general, be it Christian or any other religion, is the hypocrisy that ALL religious people engage in. Your what we like to call "cafeteria religion". Meaning you pick and choose the parts of your religion that suits you at that moment and simply discard the parts that don't suit you.
