I think its important to propose in a way that shows how well you know her. Is she the kind of girl who would like a grand gesture or something private or casual. There is no one correct way to do it as it all depends on hers and your personality and the kind of relationship you have.

Like I tell every guy that asks this question...it doesn't matter how you propose, it matters what you say when you propose. Don't say something corny and cheesy. Reach deep down and tell her your deepest feelings for her! Make her heart melt! She won't care how you propose!

Dude, there really is no bad way to propose. The way I did mine was I threw her the ring and said, "this is about as romantic as I get, you know what it means." Oddly enough, she said yes.
Don't sweat it too much, just say it the way you feel it should be said.
