You have to get to know him a bit. And then ask him if he likes you. That's about the only way to know for sure. Good luck!

A guy, who likes you a lot, will fall head over heels in love with you at the first sign of friendliness from you. And you will have a hard time getting rid of him, if you change your mind.
But a guy, who likes you only a little bit, will not do much to make friends with you. You'll have to do all the hard work. And then it may end up being a waste of time for you, because he may soon leave you for another girl.

You don't. Guys have all different ways of showing, 'affection'. I really wouldn't know, but I suppose it depends on the guy.

best way: ask him
second best way(and not as scary):get a friend to figure out
third way(not as reliable) check out all the signs.
chances are , if he calls you, stares at you, talks with you, walks you places, asks you to do things, ect.. then he prolly has some intrest in you
