I was also in same situation. I was also having FMS disease. I went to psychologist and she gave some antidepressent (SYMBAL). After taking this medicine thinking problem disappeared and I can sleep easily now.
I advise that you go to psychologist and consult for your problem.
Wish you good luck.

I had the same problem for years. Only recently I learned that it's a symptom of my ADD. I have found that a mild stimulant works much better for me than all of the relaxation drugs or exercises that I have tried. I discovered it by accident. I got so fed up trying to sleep that I decided I'd get up and get some work done. I made myself a cup of coffee and sat down to read and suddenly couldn't keep my eyes open. Now I often have a small cup of coffee or tea or chocolate before I go to bed. Not too much, just enough to help all those whirling thoughts to slow down. Another thing I do is listen to books on tape or Old Time Radio Dramas. Nothing too exciting. The talking will give your mind something to focus one so it won't leap about so randomly. There are reasons why little kids conk out while someone is reading them a bedtime story. Let technology read you to sleep.

It depends. If you are thinking about the same thing each night, worrying, and it's related to an issue in your life, then you need to work on resolving the issue.
If it's just that you are thinking about all kinds of things, then, you need to replace the many thoughts with one thought. It should be a thought that brings comfort and relaxation.
The issue is, that what we think produces emotion. If you slowly repeat a word like "peace", over and over, it replaces any thoughts that may produce the emotion of anxiety.
When other thoughts come, just ignore them and keep your mind on the word or phrase you have selected. If you get interested in the other thoughts that come into the mind, just go back to gently repeating the word or phrase you have chosen.
If you believe in God you can gently repeat the scripture, "He is kept in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusts in Thee".
If you are a Christian, you can repeat, "Jesus, I trust in you.". If you are of some other religion, I'm sure that you can find some comforting short sentence or phrase in your scriptures that you can use.
I have to do this every night to get to sleep. By the way, if you want to, you can do this at times during the day, too. Just sit in a comfortable chair for 20 minutes and do the same process. You will be amazed at how effective it is.

LOL I have had the same problem for 9 months now. Grey Goose vodka worked for a little while but then i had to quit drinking. Doc told me to put somebackground noise on and then play the name game. Think of friends or people with names from a-z.. Whatever you do don't eat it fuels insomnia.

chamomile tea, a long bath, I like having a long conversation before bed...I say everything that I'm thinking, plans for tomorrow...etc. Nothing left to think about but sleep. When I don't have that constant thing, I'm up like tonight.

I've had the same problem and I find that if I can make my mind a blank than I can fall asleep. I don't know if you'll be able to do this but it worked for me.

try having other noise in your room. they call it white noise. it blocks out most other things. white noise can be made from a fan or from some soft music. i prefer music w/o lyrics so i don't sing to them. my fiance likes to listen to a radio program when he goes to bed. it's diff. for everyone, just find what's right for you.
