my oldest shepherd did that, not that long ago. I took her to the vet and they did test after test and couldn't find out why. She didn't exhibit any signes of epelepsi, or anything along those lines, but wouldn't stop shaking.
In any case, what they did for me was put her on anti biotics and iv fluids. They kept her on it for 12 hours and she's been fine since. I think it's something that gets into their stomach, maybe she ate something when i wasn't watching her outside that didn't agree with her, i guess if a vet can't tell you then you never really know for sure... Get them to put her on an iv drip of antibiotics for infection, and a fluid iv, on constant for a full 12 hours, just water and some pill won't work.
I thought my girl was going to die, it got worse until it was like a real sezure until she was bounsing non stop for about a minute at a time, there's nothing wrong with her, so maybe it's something going around, try it, it's not that expensive, and it sure saves your baby from all that irritation and upset, aswell as you.
Hope this helps, merry Christmas.

My female beagle does the same thing. Sometimes she shakes when she has done something wrong, or maybe when she is cold(she is very sensitive). I remember when i used to stay home just to be with her! I learned over time that it is just something she does. I always just cuddle with her and pet her, and it always stops and she's back to normal. I wouldn't worry at all. My dog is very healthy, I think its ok that she shakes.

I recently read that dogs often shake because of positive reinforcement. They shake, and you love and cuddle them; or they shake and you pick them up, etc. If you know they are cold or afraid, of course, you should take action and take your dog out of the situation, but dogs are smart - if they shake and every time they get more attention and loving, wouldn't you do the same thing?

There could be mulitple answers. I found a websight that covers several. I would call the vet back and ask him. Did he atleast the dog for it? Maybe these will help.

Is your dog old? Our pek-a-poo did this a lot when he got into his teens. He had really bad arthritis then so it may just have been from the effort it took to get around.
