There is no more study of Psychology in America, it has been marred by absolute crap. The "expert" psychologist answers are marginal at best (I am speaking of those of you that wasted 4+ years getting a BA/BS degree in Psychology).

I have studied the DSM. Which is why I would classify Homosexuals has having a psycho-sexual disorder and an impulse control disorder. I accept the school of thought that most actions are due to because they truely want to, but thier disorder compels them to have numerous sex partners.
It was political reasons why Homosexuality was taken out of the DSM in the first place.

Yes, it was for political reasons that homosexuality was taken off the list of psychiatric problems. I know a psychologist who was at the meeting of the American Psychological Association when this happened.
He said there were a lot of homosexuals picketing the meeting and that they threatened to completely disrupt the meeting if homosexuality wasn't taken off the list of sexual perversions.
I see homosexuality and lesbianism as caused by a problem in the child's psycho-sexual development. Unless the child has an adequate same gender parent to model on, they can't accept their own gender.
If the child has a parent of opposite gender that is too frightening, they will be to afraid, at a very deep level, to be attracted to the opposite gender.
Also if the child has had a significant sexual trauma, such as rape or incest at a very young age, the same thing can happen.
One of the problems that accepting homosexuality brings, is that since it's not listed as a disorder, no psychologist or psychiatrist can treat the problem. There have been successes in treating the problem.

It was originally put in the DSM because of morally conservatives.
Sexual disorders have to do with arousal problems or fetishes.
Impulse control disorders are where people do the action that brings them a sense of releif or pleasure without thinking about the consequences at the time. Impulse disorders include pyromania, kleptomania (stealing), Intermittent explosive disorder and trichotillomania (impulse to pull out ones own hair). People with impulse disorders have physiological arousal in the way of heart palpitations, quickness of breath etc prior to the act, and a rush while commiting the act, followed by a release of the pressure and sort feelings of relief. Then depression often follows.
People that are homosexual make conscious decisions to perform the sexual acts, they just don't run up to others of the same sex and go at it.
I know this is not the answer you are looking for as it appears you are asking a loaded question. I just think you need to be informed about what a sexual disorder and a impulse control disorder entails.

No, and I think the suggestion is ridiculous.
Are the elderly who date mentally ill? How about the sterile? Is looking for companionship outside of (unnecessary) procreation unhealthy?
I can see where you're coming from though, humans are the only creatures who engage in sexual activity other than the purpose of breeding each time. Other than goats, that is. And dolphins. And dogs. And monkeys. Hmm, wait... it looks like sex for sex's sake is pretty darn normal after all.
And as for your comment about their disorder compelling multiple partners, that has nothing to do with orientation. It's called "dating," try it sometime. Promiscuity certainly isn't the sole providence of homosexuals, you're thinking of sluts, not gays.
The tone of your question, coupled with the negative feelings toward education that you expressed, lead me to believe that you might have some issues to work out. Seek counseling. I'd suggest starting with impulse control and sexual disorders.

I agree 100% with Smartasswhip and with Christine.
I mean, nature made women and men this way and made us be attracted to the opposite sex in order to be able to continue the species. It happens with animals as well. Macho and hembra are needed to continue the species. In nature two of the same don't go together, unless it's a herd. Chemically neither... two possitive charges will reppel, two negative charges will reppel. Only one positive and one negative can go together, never two of the same kind.
Therefore homosexuality is not natural. Homosexuality is a choice, a choice made with the mind maybe even in a subcoscious level. And the mind can play games with us. And I agree with Smartasswhip it has probably a lot to do with how the child was brought up. What was the family like, the figure of the mother, the father, all of that affects and determines who we are and what we choose when we grow up. Even if we don't realize it.
I agree with you.
P.S: I don't have any problems with people being homosexual, but I do think it's just NOT natural. It's not.

Er....no.
I know quite a few people who are gay, some of them have had lots of sex partners, and some had had only a couple, and some have had only one, who are they still with.
If poor impulse control and multiple sex partners is a psycho-sexual disorder, then HUMANITY should be in the DSM TR 4. and in every edition. Through out history.
just a thought.

no it should not be re classified as a psychiatric disorder. having a psychiatric disorder means that some people can not work due to their psychiatric disability, and can not function well without treatment. homosexuals function quite well with out any treatment and function much the same as heterosexuals. some homosexuals have multiple painters, as some heterosexuals have multiple partners. it is not a preference, or choice. it is a act of nature. it is not your upbringing, or having traumatic experiences in life that causes homosexuality. if it were a choice why would you pick to be gay, a life of constant fighting for your rights, and not being able to produce children. just think, is it a choice for a heterosexual to be straight, and could you, as a heterosexual choose to turn homosexual? i think not. because it is not in your 'nature' to be homosexual.

i get tired of answering this. A person does not choose to be homosexual or not. They are born this way. A gay man knows if hes gay or not in his teens. Its a simple genetic anomoly that has been occuring for thousands of years in humans and animals. It cannot be "cured"

the definition of both disorders you named should include heteros having sex WITH STDs and no birth control, thereby conceiving ill babies that no one in the world wants.... Homos are the most rational sexual people on the planet because they don't involve innocent life as a result of momentary pleasure.
