your curls might be growing out: they do so when you get older

Best thing to do is to leave it curly for a few washes and not blow dry it or straighten it even more. To help it wind back naturally, you can get some of those foam curlers and wear them for a couple hours before you go out or wear them overnight (they shouldnt be too uncomfortable). Use a curl enhanching cream/mousse in order for your curls to stay. I think its the excessive straightening thats helping your hair to naturally get used to being straight since your hair folicles age. If you want to really keep your curly hair, you can always use a curling iron from time to time to keep those curls tight and bouncy! It also may be because of damage so treat your hair to deep conditioners or a hot oil treatment from time to time. After a while from not straightening your hair, your curls should be back to normal!

The only thing I can think of is to stop straightening it for a while. I used to straighten my hair a lot and I went through the same thing, so I gave my hair a rest for a couple of weeks and it got back to normal, you might have to wait a little longer depending on how often you straighten yours.

You can try cutting your hair. The weight of your current hair may be too much for your curls to show. You can also keep your length and have your stylist add more layers into your hair.

I found this great book called "Curly Girls" by Lorraine Massey. It goes in to the types of curly hair and how to manage curls. She reccomends a management plan (very natural, sounds like what you are looking for) that allows the best of your curls to show. Its unusual, but I think I may try it and see what happens. It has great advice on products, management, and how to get your hair cut to show your curls the best.

Your hair may be changing because of hormones. In that case, there is little you can do but the opposite of straightening it- curling it. I use the caruso curler (it uses nothing but steam) that they used to show on the informercials (found one on ebay:)

I would put either hair spray or gel and scrunch my hair.

I think that you should go back to having pride in your ancestry. Not everyone has to be a blond asian or blonde african or blonde arab.
