I need to to know the following. You don't have to answer ALL of it if you don't want.

I need to know: who is involved in a crime scene investigation,

what are their specific duties within the investigation,

how long does it take on average to process a crime scene,

and what tools are used to process crime scenes.

Please let me know who you are and what Police Department you are/were with so that I can cite my sources.

THANK YOU!!

i would say you'd have to question people that were at the scene,
how they got to be around the scene, you'd need bags for evidence, finger print ink and paper, and crime scene tape or flagging so people will not disturb your crime scene. I'm not sure if i got all but i like to watch investigators and new detectives.

To broad of a question to assist. As stated earlier, what type of crime. Also, the Sheriffs Department puts a lot of this investigative technique down to the patrol level. I investigate many of my own scenes, depending on what it is. The detectives usually get brought in when it's a murder and specially trained people if it's a child crime (sexual assault). One thing is for sure though, it's not like CSI on TV. I can't tell you how many times I have gone to a burglary call and had someone tell me to dust for prints and pull out superglue etc., because they saw it on CSI.

the police...they are the frist ones there.then they call the csi...hopefully the police didn't track a bunch of crap in there that the csi guys don't have to wean out .but if they do hopefully they will get though it ok..finger prints are very inportant and they will do that frist... they well also get any dna they find off body or surface in the area. they will take alot of pictures, they will ask alot of questions to the neibors. they will want to know who her best friend was and why some one would want to kill her, they would check to see if she had a insurecne on her life and who would benifit from that...cops are very smart, this is just a little bit of what i would say to answer your Q. i love csi,i need more people like you to get in to it. No one should ever get away with murder..... but way to many do...JD
