I am the previous ower of two rotts that i raised from pups and have been the best dogs ever, even my friends agree to this. It just makes me sad that a few bad people raise them for less than desirable reasons. It it just funny that i bought a stuffed rott with a "happy holidays" santa hat on at my local Kroger. Irony, or does the evil Krogre really know the truth??????????

I am not sure that it is a bad thing to capitalize on the cuteness as pups. With a bad image, not rightly deserved, it is needed to soften them up. When the common public is socialized to how great and cute the puppies are, it leads to more interest and adoptions in the long run. You get a cute Christmas stuffed Rott, down the road you remeber how cute it was and breed has stuck in your subconscience mind, so you have an instant interest in the breed. It is more of free advertising in a positive way, and as a breeder, the more "cute" capitalized things I see, the more advertisment the breed gets. It also tames down the "mean" personna to see it cheerful and soft. Look at it this way, the more good publicity, the better the understanding and interest of the breed will develop. I hope this answered your question.

That makes alot of sense just last year I bought one of those valentine day rotts (it's holding a heart in it paws). I also have two rotts a 6 year old and a 7 year old. We live in a trailer park and their are alot of children they all come over and play with my dogs all the time. I have 2 different neighbors that have dogs I will leave the breeds out only for the reason that it isn't the breeds fault it is the owners fault. The larger dog has charged my nephew when he was getting on the bus and the other dog is a small dog and he has snarled, growled and bitten my twice. So ya know I have to say this...My rotts were cute when I got them and they are still cute today.

I own 2 dobermans and out of my 5 dogs they are the most patient with my children. Yet i am amazed at the amount of vicious doberman stuff out there such as 'dog in yard' signs featuring a snarling dobe or movies featuring growling dobe guard dogs and the worst is security company ads. Rottweilers are also a favourite for these things. I have found both breeds to be excellent with children, wary of strangers, but not assertively so, and the biggest clowns when excited. You have to admit tho to the casual observer, rotti pups are the epitome of cuteness with the biggest paws seen on a puppy, the extra skin, big eyes, floppy ears, and just the most darling natural expression, While to the same person the almost over confident adult with its proud posture that seems to say 'im not afraid of anything' could seem rather daunting. Its just ironic that the same dog just 2 years of age apart can be the absolute opposite in ignorant peoples perception. Its also ironic that people have walked into my yard, nervously asked if my dobes bite, whilst they pet the only one of my dogs that has bitten someone, the labrador. Happy xmas and an even better new year.

I don't hate rottweilers I think they are great dogs along with pit bulls, and other so called fierce breeds, i know alot of people who have rotts, pits, bull terriers and they are excellent to them and children it just makes me mad how these dogs get a bad name but yet when u are walking down a sidewalk all of a sudden here come a damn chiuaua or some other type of small dog ready to tear your leg off, u never hear about them on the news, them small dogs are more viciouse than the big ones

The reason people hate rotties and other certain breeds is because people get these breeds of dog and then do nothing with them. What happens then is the dog becomes obnoxious or aggressive and instead of blaming the owner people blame the dogs. No dog is inherently vicious but people are lazy when it comes to researching the breed of dog they get and not all dogs are good for all people. People get dogs because of looks or status and those really are the wrong reasons.

Ever since the movie Rosemary's baby, wrots have gotten a very bad reputation. I have had a few myself, to the family they are big babies, but when it comes to strangers, they are great protectors, I'd say they have been unfairly judged, along with the Pitbull and other dogs of the like.

Rotts are not bad dogs. The people who buy them and make them mean are bad people. Unfortunately this is done to often, thus their bad rep.
