I have straight hair down to my sholders. I wash my hair at night when i know i have to get up extra ealry the next day. I do blow dry it before i head off to bed. It never fails, when i wake up my hair is a total mess. How can i keep my hair from getting really messed up while i sleep?

When I was in high school, I used to have to be up around 5:30 to wash/dry my hair and be ready for school at 7:15. My mom bought me a satin pillow case and my hair stayed pretty much in order while I slept. Basically, your hair just slides all over the satin, and doesn't tangle. My Mom said that she used to do the same thing when she was in school. In those days very "structured styles" were in (think beehive). Girls would go once a week and have a "wash and set" and if you wanted your hair to stay in good shape, you had to sleep with your head bent at odd angles.
Check in a linen store, they have them.

Everyone is saying "put it in a ponytail"... NO, do not do that... that is the worst thing you can do to your hair. Not only do you wake up with a big crease from the hair-tie but putting your hair in a pony tail will break your hair strands and make it very UNhealthy... You seem like you care about your hair and if you really do then you will not sleep with it in a pony tail... I have long straight hair and when I wash it at night I make sure I blow dry it COMPLETELY, because when I leave my hair the slightest bit wet/damp when I go to sleep, then I wake up with it all crinkly and icky... So in a nutshell: Your hair looks like a mess because your hair is probably damp when you fall asleep on it and remember don't sleep with your hair in a ponytail

i shower and blow-dry before i sleep too!

well i flip my hair up so that when my head hits the pillow, all my hair is gathered and goes straight back. it looks sorta strange i guess (think of someone with long hair hanging upside-down... except lying on a bed). ...i actually started this one summer night when it was really warm and i didn't want my hair sticking to my neck... but you get the idea. whenever you flip or whatever, it mostly stays in that position too.

Since you have straight hair anyway, what you could do is before you blow dry your hair at night, use leave-in condioner. Then in the morning you could use a straightening iorn on your hair to remove any kinks or frizz. Thats what I do.

best thing to do for manageability, saving dry and frizzy ends and most of all, saving time in the morning is sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase or wrapping your hair in some silimar cloth. Good luck! :)

Put a comb beside ur bed and comb it properly and lay ur hair down neatly when u sleep. Try not to move too much when u sleep. Also, don't sleep with damp/wet hair.

Try wearing it in a braid or a loose pony tail. Also maybe a loosely tied scarf would help control the mess, good luck,Robin

I ALWAYS put my hair up in a pony tail, a loose one. All I have to do in the morning is pull out the pony tail holder and comb my hair with my fingers and it looks GREAT.

get a loose rubber band, and make a low side-ponytail. put the ponytail in front of your shoulder and try to keep it throughout the night. when you wake up, perfect hair! it works for me when I straighten my hair at night!
