I've only learned taekwondo so I can just tell you that taekwondo takes 4 to 5 years depends on each individual. The same for all martial arts as well. Everytime you passed a test or degree, you go up one level or else stay the same until next year. Bye!

i've been doign karate for 6 years know, going to my classes 3 times a week for about one to two hours. I'm up to a green belt, meaning i have another belt before im black. in at least 2years, ill have a first degree black. but it also depends on what sort of karate, tkd, judo ect. in my opinion karate, do okinawa, japan...the best, take it from someone who knows. for tkd, i'm a blue, so im still "beginner" and ive done that for 2 years.
i guess really itll take no more than 10 years to get your first degre balck belt.

A black belt does not make you a master. Of course, you could do what many others have done and just create your own martial art and proclaim yourself to be the 10th degree grandmaster.

To master, a lifetime. To show off your pretty black belt, depends on how much money you wish to spend.
