Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine, or backbone. The bones that make up the spine are called the vertebrae. The degree of scoliosis ranges from mild to severe. Patients with milder curves may only need to visit their doctor for periodic observation. Persons with more severe scoliosis may require treatment.

Scoliosis is a disorder in which there is a sideways curve of the spine, or backbone. Curves are often S-shaped or C-shaped. In most people, there is no known cause for this curve. This is known as idiopathic scoliosis.
People with milder curves may only need to visit their doctor for periodic exams. Some people who have scoliosis need treatment.

it's curving of but can also be rotation of the spine...
it can be very painful if it's really bad, so if you think you or someone you know might have it, go get it looked at ASAP.
