He flirted with me for a while. But then he'd back off if I tried to get close. Sometimes he wouldn't even look my way and other times deeply into my eyes. I don't know if he knows I like him or not. It's definately a possibility. He knows I'm a really nice person. I've always been so nice to him. But lately when he hands me work he won't even look at me just puts it down on my desk. I'm very shy so sometimes I do feel uncomfortable when he looks at me. Do you think this is the reason he doesn't look at me sometimes. Or do you think he just finds me utterly repulsive? I can take the truth, this is what I need to know. Opinions please!!!!

There are several possibilities. First off, he does not find you repulsive if he has flirted with you. Chances are, speaking as a guy, he is probably just as confused as you.
You mention that you are shy. He might misinterpret that shyness as a lack of interest. If that is the case, you might want to meet him halfway, like suggesting that you two go to lunch sometime, and let him meet you in the middle by folllowing up that suggestion. It's hard to say, because I don't know what you mean when you said that you "tried to get close," on the one hand, and you are not sure whether he knows you like him, on the other.
There are other possibilities. For example, he may want to get closer to you, but is concerned that a relationship could complicate the work situation. I think, however, given your shyness and apparent insecurity, you might be unintentionally sending out as many mixed messages as he does.
He can still like you if he does not look at you when he hands you work. There are all sorts of possible reasons why he doesn't, but I'll bet you it's not because he doesn't like you.

Maybe he senses your liking for him, and he only feels like a friend towards you. Then again, there are many different possibilities for his actions. He could just be going through a rough time lately, making him not act his normal self. I suggest trying to talk to him about it. Slip him a note asking if everything's been okay lately. He'll find it sweet that you care, and hopefully it'll help you find out more in how he feels for you.

Ignore him for awhile and see if it gets his attention. If it does then he's just a flirt, it has nothing to do with whether he thinks you are attractive or not. I would try to stop worrying about him and move on to someone new who I didn't work with. If he flirts with you again act a little snobby and he'll either stop or be more intrigued by you. He is just shy - why not ask him if he feels like getting a coffee and go for a walk with him??
If you are glamorous maybe he is intimidated??
