If Jesus is the son of God and God is omnipotent, why do Christians pray to Jesus rather than to God?

Because He is our Advocate to the Father, and the Holy Spirit is our intercessor, when we know not what or how to pray.

John 14:6 Jesus is speaking here in this verse and it says something like this"Iam the way, the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father but by me" Acts 4:10-12tells us who Jesus is what he did and why only He can get us into heavan.Ephesians2:1-22 tells us that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus not our works ,v.18 tells us we have accessto the Father through Jesus that is why we pray to GOD in the name of Jesus.

>Why do Christians need to go through Jesus to go to Heaven?

Because they say so.

Because all of us have sinned. All we, like sheep, have gone astray.

We need Atonement for our sins.
God has said there is ONE WAY. We can not work our way to Heaven. We need to accept/receive the Gift of God, Eternal Life.
That Gift is in and through Jesus, God's eternal Son.

Jesus is God, the Son.
God is omnipotent.
Jesus is God.
Jesus is omnipotent.

Christians normally pray to the Father, in the name of the Son, and assisted by the Spirit. HOWEVER, the New Testament (you have heard of it ???) does show examples of prayer to the Father, prayer to the Son, and prayer to the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is THE GOD!

The process of becoming saved is called JUSTIFICATION.
The penalty for sins committed are removed. Romans 4: 7f. 2Corinthians 5:19.
The condemnation is gone. Romans 8: 1, 33f.
There is peace with GOD. Romans 5: 1. Ephesians 2: 14-17.
One is restored to GODS favour. Romans 4: 6 1Corinthians 1: 30. 2Corinthians 5: 21.
The believer is now clothed in a righteousness not his own, provided by Jesus, and is therefore acceptable to fellowship with GOD.

For the first part, it could be that he is blocking the gates or that he was wrong and was reincarnated as the pearly gates....

For the second part, there's that whole Holy Trinity thing. Jesus and God are but two manifestations of the same diety. So praying to one has the effect of praying to all.

Well, why was jesus sent to earth? Because our society was so messed up the only way to straighten things out was an actual part of God to come to us. Therefore connecting us to God through Him. He was part God, part human so that we could relate to Him.So he is kinda like our portal to God, because no man can find god on his own, God calls us to Himself. He uses Jesus his one and only son to do this.

Because Jesus was given as our redeemer by his sacrifice. God chose him as our king and high priest and his representative to approach Him through his son the Christ. Jesus said: "No one comes to the Father except through me". And I thank God I have another chance.

Because there is no one else in which we all can be saved. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). Jesus only, no one else. Not Mary, not the Pope, not Mohammed, nor any man, whether he dress black or white. JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN. Thru repentants.
