All cigarettes can cause cancer. Smoke, all smoke, any smoke, has solid particles that can catch in the lung tissue and lead to problems. Even with a filter or a low-tar cigarette, you can't get rid of this problem. I'm sorry. :-(

If you want your dad to stop smoking, I know people who have had success with the nicotine gum.

The are many carcinogens in smoke, not just the tar. Smoking has been equated to sniffing bus fumes.

You are sweet to care and he will be sweet to stop for both of you. :)

Stopping smoking is said to be one of the most difficult addictions to break.

I believe it. I did it. I did so "cold-turkey" several years ago. You are a grouchy monster for about 3-4 days, but if you and your family can make it through. It is definitely worth it.

Why should we let something like a burning stick control us?

Good luck.

Yes, there are tobacco-free cigarettes available that have no tar and nicotine. You can get them at smoke shops and health food stores. They're just something to hold, though, they don't satisfy the craving. The patch or nicotine gum work better.

Im sorry sweetie, lungs are meant to hold air not smoke and chemicals. The only way to avoid the problems associated with smoking is giving it up. I wish I could.

I'm sorry, but any kind of smoke tends to have carcinogens in it. No form of smoking is good for your lungs.
