Doesn't seem logical, how can someone "choose" belief if it's just not there?

People, why would anyone pray for faith if they don't believe in God anyway? Think about it.

...and what do you mean, Stephanie B., take a tiny step? "I believe" came before "help my unbelief".

Nah don't use faith and belief so close to religious innuendo. Because most people believe that when they go to sleep they will wake up in the morning. That is putting a lot of faith into your bodily functions while you are unconscious. Hopefully my heart doesn't shut down. That would so not be good.

Belief and faith will be there only if you want them to be. Besides they are really just two more words for assumption.

Yes: You can pray to the lord for faith. If you plat a seed of faith God will water it and it will grow, if you just take care if that seed like you would something out of a garden by keeping the bad seeds away, another words doing what you know in your heart to be right you will find after time you will have the Holy Ghost assure you that your faith is well founded.

When my faith is tested, you better beleive I ask for more. The reason my faith is being tested is so that I will turn from my problem and ask God the giver of all faith for more. This simple action is an acknowledgment of His superiority over my particular circumstance. If I thought I could handle it on my own, that would not bring glory to Him; the very reason for my being.

Some people choose a faith, based on logic , some people come to realize their faith slowly, some come in an epiphany of faith, that thunderbolt from the sky. You can ask for faith in someone or something. You can pray to God to help you find faith , strenghthen your faith and to keep you faithful. If you lost your faith, you can find it. If you never had it, it doesnt mean you never will.

Faith is the hope in things unseen. You either have it or you don't. When you say "ask for it " do you mean pray about it? You can pray for the wisdom to understanding what it means to live by faith. Trust the LORD with all of thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct thy paths. Prov. 3:5-6 (KJV)

Faith is not something you ask for. It's not given it is learned.
What type of belief are we talking about. To have a belief in God you don't have to see him for him not to be here, you can't see air, but its here. At least you have to believe that is what you are breathing.
Sometimes things that aren't seen are the most beautiful and believeable things in the world.
Not everything in life is touchable, likeable or knowledgeable. Sometimes you just have to learn to believe in and have the faith that it will make things better for you.

Belief is no more a choice than is one's sexual orientation. Now how is that for a controversial answer?

Seriously, go alone into the silence and just say "God I don't know if you exist. If you do, please help me to know you". And in a short time, maybe as long as a few months, you will find what you are seeking.

You can ask for faith till you are blue in the face and none will be given you.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God.

yes, there's a story where Jesus was going to heal a man and the man said, "I believe, but help my unbelief."

If you take a tiny baby step, Jesus'll do the rest.

We aren't born with faith. No one has faith when it comes to religion, just blind-faith. You don't ask for blind faith, the weak just take it upon themselves.

With this in mind, the most disturbing part of this is that many of these religions actually preach a 'hell' for non-believers. It really is frightening.
