He had to be a perfect replacement for Adam prior to the sin. His sacrifice had to equal that which was lost. He also had to prove that a perfect man could remain perfect until death. Not only is all this recorded for humans to know but the angels in heaven were also watching and wondering because Satan slandered both God and man.

Only a sinless human could raise above Satan (evil) & ascend to God the Father (Heaven). The rest of us sin (Rom 8:23). So....hence if we believe upon Jesus & recieve the Holy Spirit we can catch a ride to heaven even though we sin. It's who we know, not how good we are since we WILL sin & fall short. That's why the cliche of a "personal relationship" with Jesus is so important. If he doesn't know us, the scriptures tell us he will deny us before the Father.

I should also add that scripture tells us Jesus is both God & Man. Unlike Adam who was man not God.

The way that we understand that the whole world's sin past and future is atoned - by fullfillment of God's own Law requiring an unblemished sacrifice - Jesus therefore had to be sinless to become that perfect sacrifice. I'm not sure how the mechanism of crime and punishment can function like this, but earlier Hebrews definitely were following the Law of Moses when they slaughtered innocent lambs and doves on the alters - and Jesus said many times that He came, not to abolish the Law but to satisfy it.

God's first and only commandment in the garden of eden was "You sin ... you die."

The "flip-side" of that commandment is "If you don't sin ... then no one, not Satan, and not even God, can take your life away."

When Satan arranged the cruel and brutal death of Jesus, true and perfect man, and sinless Son of God, he broke this most basic law, was judged by God for it, and was stripped of all that he had earlier gained from Adam's sin.

All power in heaven and on earth was then awarded to the risen Jesus. He gave us our freedom, and our redemption was at hand.

If Jesus had ever sinned, or had ever been personally stained by sin, then our redemption in Christ could never have happened.

Adam sinned as perfect man. A ransom sacrifice is needed for mankind to be saved. A perfect man needs to die. Since no one can do it, since all are born sinners, God sent his son Jesus.

No he is not God, just before he died he prayed to his God, "My God my God, why have you forsaken me?"
