Atheism comes from two Greek words, a the negator, and theos, God. Atheism teaches that there is no God of any kind, anywhere, anytime. Some atheists claim to "exercise no belief in a god" the same way they would exercise no belief in pink unicorns. Logically, an atheist would be an evolutionist.

The Bible teaches that all men know there is a God (Rom. 2:14-15). Therefore, they will be without excuse (Rom. 1:20 ) on the Day of Judgment. Instead, atheists willingly suppress the knowledge of God by their unrighteousness (Rom. 1:18-19).

Atheist are not considered a freethinker. A freethinker is a person who forms his opinions about religion and God without regard to revelation, scripture, tradition, or experience.

Atheist is someone who is without the belief in God or Gods. We are free thinkers since we are not bound by the rules of religion. As in we dont have to accept creation as a fact.

One should hope each of us take the path of enlightenment for through free thinking life is resolved but without courage and
tenacity of thinking the truth will be lost.Such is free thinking and
often the truth exposes the false manipulations of the theist and his lies. morals work better founded upon rock but not the delusion of a false God or threats and promises of a false after-life.
peace out

Atheism is the state of disbelief or non-belief[1] in the existence of a deity or deities.[2] It is commonly defined as the positive denial of theism (i.e., the assertion that deities do not exist),[3] or the deliberate rejection of theism (i.e., the refusal to believe in the existence of deities).[4] However, others—including most atheistic philosophers and groups—define atheism as the simple absence of belief in deities[5][6][7] (cf. nontheism), thereby designating many agnostics, and people who have never heard of gods, such as the unchurched or newborn children, as atheists as well.[8][9] In recent years, some atheists have adopted the terms strong and weak atheism to clarify whether they consider their stance one of positive belief that no gods exist (strong atheism), or of mere absense of belief that gods exist (weak atheism).[10]

Basically. Free thinker usually equals skeptic, and atheists are skeptical about god.

Not necessarily free thinkers but just not god believers; believe me I don't really call "if science can't prove it, it's impossible" or "its scientifically impossible" people free thinkers

Is an athiest really a free thinker if their parents raised them to believe in no god?

They're not equivocal. A free thinker is someone who is not afraid to think for himself no matter what his friends will say. If an atheist is only an atheist because he doesn't want to make a fool of himself in front of his atheist friends, he is not a free thinker.

"Someone who is unable to obey himself, is himself commanded."

Think for yourself!

Atheists, well...they do not believe in any God...they are the people that believe we all evolved from apes and that the world developed in a logical and scientific way. They believe in what they see.
