Plaining for a CAR, budget under 5 lacs.
Pinned down to few : Santro , WagonR and Ford Ikon.
1. Pls guide me on which Make and Model I should go for ?
2. Petrol engine or diesel engine, which one is reliable and what is the harm in buying a diesel engine car?
3. What preferences for Ford Ikon with diesel engine?

If you want go for mid segment Ford Ikon comes under 5Lac. Other wise Santro is best bet. But always prefer the petrol one, if your daily travel is less than 40-50kms. In mid range, for less than 5Lacs you will get only basic model. If you choose small car, you will get decent features under 5 Lacs.

Also consider the Tata Indica V2 Turbo. Its definately got more power and awesome torque than those petrol heads. Im confident since my cuz recently got one.
There aint no harm in gettin a car with a diesel heart. Moreover u get more torque on the whole and a lot more efficiency. Nowadays diesel cars have state of the art engines which take on head to head with their petrol siblings.
Do get a test drive of the TURBO. It will surely make you reconsider, it will set you back by 4.28 lakh(ex-showroom)

To my knowledge better go for Hyundai!!!!good for our roads as well as for maintenance purposes...
