I used to be able to record myself singing with the sound recording application on my computer but one day I had to wipe out the computer of a lot of programs because it was really loaded with things. Ever since that happened, I haven't been able to record anything with my computer; so did I delete some type of application that would enable sounds to be recorded by my computer? If so, where can I find this software that I'm lacking of?

A terrific free program is called Audacity. Otherwise, you could buy a video audio suite like Roxio or Nero, or even Microsoft Digital Media Edition.

Depending on the OS your running, you might want to try a
System Restore, or try your installation cd disk, for a complete restall. But before going down that road, trying gonig to microsoft.com for a windows update, or going to the computer's maunfactures website to see if you can update any missing files there.
Or you can go to Start, control panel, performance and maintenance, system, hardware, device manager, scroll down to sound, and if you see any yellow circles with black ! or any red symbols then you will know if there is a problem.
From their you can go to Microsoft.com knowlegebase type in what you see and you should see a possible fix.
One last thing, you can also go to start, Help and Support, it offers lots of user help on it too.

Most webcams and microphones come with their own recording software. Try that avenue first. Otherwise, try searching online for recording software. Make sure it's compatible with your system and your microphone if you have to look online for one to download.
