He may have something in his eye, like a lash or speck of dirt, that is bothering him. The doctor will be able to see if that's the case, so it's good she is taking him in tomorrow. Other than that, it might be some sort of tic he's developed and may not even be aware he's doing it until it's pointed out to him.
You mom may want to try to wash his eyes out, but since that's such a delicate area, she may be better off to just wait and let the doctor look at it.

This will seem silly but it may be possible he is mimicking something. When one of the boys I nanny was three he did the exact same blinking thing. When we would ask him why he would not answer. A doctor’s visit and many phone calls later I found myself watching "The Little Einsteins" with him. As I was watching, I realized there was something very familiar about the way the characters appeared. They all had a very distinctive blink that looked just like what Ben was doing with his eyes. Then I looked at him and he was deep into his trance-like blinking state...
I asked him if he every liked to pretend he was one of them and he looked at me with a very meaningful blink and smiled and nodded. From that day on, for some reason, we never saw him do it again.
It is always a good idea to see a doctor about this, just in case. However, 3 yr olds have a tendency to do things that defy an adult’s perception of purpose and logic. And unfortunately they are often just too young to explain why they do most things they do.
I hope this helps, good luck!

It's good your mom is taking him to the doctor. I worked with special needs children who would blink like that. I'm not trying to scare you, it could be something simple. But blinking like that can be a warning sign. I think it can also be a sign of mini seizures. Hope it's nothing serious.

Blinking keeps the eye moist and moves the dirt to the corners of the eye.
There maybe a problem with the tear ducts and his eyes maybe too dry.

One of friends encounter the same problem like your brother. She brought her son to doctor and Dr said that his lash is too long, and that made him uncomfortable. So now everytime, her son blinks, that indicate his lash is time to trim.

DO take him to the doctor, but it sounds as though he has a nervous tic.
They are very common in small children. Especially boys.
If you google 'facial tic' you will see some info on this.

Honestly, maybe he has Tourette syndrome. I have it, and what he is doing sounds EXACTLY like Tourette symptoms. There are great websites for Tourette's that you can check out. Good luck to you!

Well, maybe he has something in his eye?
i doubt it. he wouldn't be doing it for 3 days so scratch that.
Maybe he just has been sitting near the tv too close and its been hurting his eyes.
