Nevermind answerers who apparently don't know what the term "end strength" means. Oh, and there's not going to be a draft.

But yes, to say that an increase in troop numbers (not just in Iraq, I'm assuming you're saying if he increases the total number of marines and army as his interview a few days ago would seem to imply) anyway... where was I? Oh yes, to increase the total number of troops is just a different way of saying the same thing as increasing the end strength.

End strength is the total number of troops any one particular branch is allowed to have at any given time. Increase troop authorizations, and the end strength goes up by default

Most of the troops getting sent over there will be SF types, (special Forces) Their job is to train armies and militias or any giving uprising that is the U.S. best interest to fight so we don't have to send our guys in the meat grinder. The U.S. public would rather see a 3rd world booger eater getting killed then Jon Boy from North Dakota getting smoked.

If Pres. Bush sends more troops to Iraq he would have to bring back the draft. That is just common sense.
