Both could be true. The creator created some life in the ocean which evolved into forms that he had never dreamed of.

And the answer is....drum roll, please... YES!
You are the blessed winner of BOTH. You have the Bible from which you can learn of God. You are part of evolution from which you continue to experience the mercies and goodness of God.
Quantum mechanics has a word here. QM states one cannot observe a reaction, as small as atomic, w/o affecting that reaction, yourself, and the observation.
So it is with both the Bible and evolution. We are so much a part of both we cannot clearly see the whole yet. Example: I read the Bible through two or more times a year, yet each time I learn something new. And that is something in black/white print! How much more marvelous then the new things unfolding in evolution over millenia!
The Bible starts with chaos and ends with heaven. That is evolution on a grand scale!

For the Muslim there is no need for separation between religion and science. It is understood from the Quran, revealed over 1,400 years ago, that there is both; "Creation" and "Evolution." And in both instances, it is only Allah who is "Able to do all things." In fact, it was the Muslim scientists, more than 1,000 years ago, who set the stage for the adancement of learning, technology and disciplines in science that we know today.
Allah has explained how He created everythng in the universe and brought all life out of water. He created humans from earth (not monkeys) and there is no need to attempt fabrications of "links" to the animal world in Islam.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:20

Why can't they both be true, the Bible metaphorically and in general with an overview, and science specifically with a detailed view?

Science is not truth. It is the search for truth.
The bible is a fairy tale and a tool of those in power.

Both. It is His creations that evolve, and the new species formed through evolution are also His creations, since He designed and put into motion the wondrous process by which they came into existence.

i say evolution, but ur free to choose.
'course the best bet if ur religious is to say evolution was the will of god, so u can have both. believing in god and evolution is not necessarily mutually exclusive.
