I stick with "jesuslovesyou".
Here are the reasons why I know the bible is the word of God:
The 66 books of the bible were written: 1) On three continents. 2) In three languages
3) By about 40 different people(kings, shepherds, scientists, attorneys, an army general, fishermen, priests and a physician).
4) Over a period of about 1500 years.
5) On the most controversial subjects.
6) By people who, in most cases had never met.
7) By othors whose education and background varied greatly.
8) The 66 books maintain harmony with each other.
9) It gives me the experience it claims it would give me.
10) It confirm by science.
11) IT IS ONE BOOK THAT DARE TO PREDICT THE FURE. No other religious books do that coz if they try, it would reveal that they are not indeed inspired by God.

Perhaps you've never opened yourself to the possibility that those who are religious is right. What makes you so sure you're right? What makes you so sure that the so-called "outdated books" are false? It would seem to me that you're so closed off to religion that you fail to recognize that you may be the one who is wrong.
Ever stop to think about that? By asking this question, you make it seem as though you're a hypocrite who believes that they're right no matter what anyone says. And you have no literature to back up your claims as religious people do. Whereas religious people have books such as the Bible that have been widely accepted as true for literally thousands of years.
Maybe you should examine yourself before you go accusing others..........

Many people obtain a little truth through some right living. Then they fill in the blanks because they don't want give up more to live better and all that is required.
They want to use what they have learned, and use it for there own benefit and have fun now at other peoples expense, rather than stick to learning more of what they should and make sacrifices like a true follower of Christ.
So they fill in the blanks with there own understanding, and expect you to believe them and believe in foolish emaginations that come out of a heart of pride.

The same thing that makes atheists think they are right, or liberals, or conservatives, or . We all feel more important when we imagine everyone in the world would think like us, and we all want to feel like we have it all figured out. That's why (personally) I like science so much: it has a method to prove things and it admits what it doesn't (yet) know. As far as what makes a scripture "Holy" or 100% right, I'm as lost as you are, I'm afraid.

Because thinking and doing are two different things! Most religions are based on making people think one way the right way...But many do the wrong.

They have not figured out that one can be an ethical, moral, and respectable human being w/o believing in fairy tales.
Or, maybe they know the truth, but think they can get the edge on others by pretending to be " holy" (a word they always use w/o understanding what it really means).

What outdated books are you referring to?
God is the only one who sits in judgment and your turn is coming.
Why are there so many ignorant people who think they know what's right? At least I believe and have faith in God. What do you have? The tooth fairy!
Why are you in R&S if you are not a Christian? Why do you ask ignorant questions? Are you wanting to start something?
Lord, please touch this person and show the error of their ways. Convict them with the touch of the Holy Spirit and lead them to salvation. Clean their hearts, minds and mouth from the words and thoughts of the devil. Let them know that You love them and that you want to take care of them. Let wisdom be the first gift after salvation. Thank You in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Lots of reasons. Morality. Ethics. Faith. Being civilized. Being adult. Being responsible.
What makes us believe the "old outdated books" are true? Knowledge in, and love of, the one true God, and salvation thru His Son, Jesus. In other words, faith.
