Just curious if there is anyone out there who became pregnant after their husband/boyfriend had a vasectomy reversal. My husband is planning on getting one in a few months and I was wondering if it was easy, how long it took, and what to expect with the surgery. Anyone?

My husband had his vasectomy reversed after 7 years and we now have a 3 yr old daughter. We didn't try to get pregnant right away but when we started trying it took us about 6 months.

Good luck-

I've never had one, however, I can tell you about the clinical side of it. Vasectomy reversal are effective, however since you got the vasectomy done 16 years ago you have a lower chance of having enough healthy sperm in your semen to actually conceive a child. The cost of it is between $5,000 and $12,000 and isn't cover by insurances. To get the vasectomy there are two procedures that can be done; vasovasostomy (very simple procedure where both ends are reattached together) or vasoepididymostomy (more complicated procedure done when the vasovasostomy fails, it is the attatchement of the vas deferens directly to the epididymis). If during the procedure the doctor finds any sperm you may ask for it to be frozen, in case the reversal doesn't work. Like any surgical procedures there are risks of bleeding, infection, inflammation, and nerve damage. Think about it carefully and most importantly talk to your doctor about it.

My father had a vasectomy reversal and my parents conceived four children after it, the first one being born on the very day he had the procedure, a year later.

My husband had one and three weeks later we concieved a our son. It all depends on the time between when he originally got the vasectomy and the reversal and also his age. It was fairly cheap as well. Good luck to you

I can answer the first part of the question! Yes! I do know a man whose wife became pregnant after his vasectomy! To his surprise it was his! They tie the tube in some cases and they are not 100% always. Usually they will ask for samples after surgery to make sure the tubes are closed. He did not follow procedure and did not provide the post sample!
The funny part is that he works at the hospital!

looks like a husband friend is a wuss. I had the big 'V'. Was out of work for 3 days, then on light duty for 5. pain pills are a wonderfull thing. didnt feel much of any thing. As for reversal, it is an immediate thing. as soon as the pipes are fixed, the river flows. He will need a week or so to recover. will probably be tender for a little longer, so you should do the riding if you know what i mean, at least for a week or so longer. Best thing to do is go see a doc and let them tell you.........everyone is different and he/she will be the one who will do your man.

Vasectomy reversal,IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is have become very common now. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.

My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Many patients travel from United States of America and UK to get low cost surgery in India. Indian corporate hospitals are comparable to hospitals anywhere in the world. In fact, India has medical facilities that are comparable with the USA, UK and Canada. India offers World Class Medical Facilities, comparable with any of the western countries. Nope. That's as permanent as it gets. And, it is pretty painful for them. My hubby's co-worker had it done and he was out of the office for a few days. Said it was the worst thing he's ever done, but with four kids he wasn't wanting another one ;) And, tube ties aren't as fool proof as a vasectomy.
