i believe the PERVERSION of religion has a good deal to do with it.
Doing away with religion would not create peace on Earth, people would just find other ways to generalize, group, label, and hate others.

Matthew 13: 37-39 He responded them and reported unto them, He that soweth the coolest seed is the Son of guy; the field is the international; the coolest seed are the youngsters of the dominion; besides the indisputable fact that the tares are the youngsters of the depraved one. The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the right of the international; the reapers are the angels. that's the tares between the wheat, that reason the dissension, contradiction, turbulence, and evil. Their carry close is all that's detrimental interior the international. Then there are the coolest seed that carry the steadiness between good and evil. Their's is all that's helpful. they are the youngsters of God. So we extremely won't be able to throw all of them at the same time and say that they are all evil. there'll continually be tares between the wheat. besides the indisputable fact that the wheat will nonetheless stay reliable interior the Lord and do good.

Of course religion is not the root of ALL evil. That is just silly and naive. Nothing is the root of ALL evil. It is a combination of a whole lot of things! To simplify it and say that ONE THING is the root of all evil is childish. Evil is a human construct, so basically humans are the root of all evil, however goodness and kindness are also human constructs, so humans are the root of all good as well! The mind is a funny thing, you know?

As far as religion, it is all too often used to justify evil intentions.... That is why it is easy to label religion the source of evil. Of course its not the root of ALL evil; the root of a whole lot of evil, sure, I'd go with that. But so is selfishness and greed, human attributes that have nothing to do with ideology.

No and No.

But there is such a thing as necessary evil. Yin and Yang, Karma.

There would not be peace on earth, but there would be less reason to fight over archaic beliefs.

No, the religion is not the root of all evil. It is the people who give the tenets of their faith the wrong spin to fit their own agenda. It happens to members of every faith with no exception when the force binding them to the values of their faith is overcome by the force of their own personal or group agenda that takes them in a different trajectory away from the true orbit and values of their faith.
I believe that in the case of total breakdown of law enforcement institutions (God forbid), people of relative morality will succumb faster to break laws than the people with of faith.

No. The love of money is the root....
Even without religion, there would still not be peace on Earth because there would still be sin in humans, and humans committing sin.

Man is the root of all evil. Religion is just an excuse.
If we did not invent religion and god (funny how they all claim that god is one, however Arabs, jews & christians would kill each other for the ultimate right god) we would kill each other for some other bull: like blue pen or yellow quash.
So, all things considered, thank god for religion.

Yes, but if there was a "one True Religion" that did everything God asked them to do, then you would have peace on earth.

Here is the way you separate "True from False Religion"

What is false religion?

Why does religion seem to be at the root of so many problems?
The fault lies, not with all religion, but with “false” religion.

False Religion...MEDDLES IN WAR AND POLITICS: How many religions can you think of whose members engage in war?

False Religion...SPREADS FALSE DOCTRINE: Most religions teach that the soul of spirit is some invisible part of a human that survives the death of the physical body. However, the Bible teaches a different doctrine. “The soul that is sinning, it itself will die.” Ezekiel 18:4 Jesus taught that the dead will be resurrected, an unnecessary action if humans had an immortal soul. Does your religion teach that the soul does not die?

False Religion...TOLERATES IMMORAL SEX: Church groups ordain gay and lesbian members of the clergy. What, though, does the Bible teach? It plainly states: “Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men.” 1 Cor. 6:9,10 Do you know of religions that condone immoral sex?

How to identify true religion.

True Religion...PRACTICES LOVE: True worshippers are “no part of the world,” are not divided by race or culture, and display “love among themselves.” Rather than killing one another, they are willing to die for one another.

True Religion...TRUSTS GOD'S WORD: Instead of teaching “tradition” and “commands of men as doctrines,” true religion bases its doctrine on God's Word, the Bible

True Religion...STRENGTHENS FAMILIES AND UPHOLDS HIGH MORAL STANDARDS: True religion trains husbands to “love their wives as their own bodies,” helps wives to develop “deep respect for their husbands,” and teaches children to “be obedient to their parents.”

True Religion is available, search for it.

No. I would say that the natural human condition is more to blame. We are self centered by nature and sometimes at least in the history of my religion selfish and self serving people have perverted religion to justify the evil they committed.

YES!

why do the alquida/islamic extremists do what they do?

why are islams fighting with the jews? holy land, jaruselum.....WHY?!

its because it represents the evil of false religion......FSM bless there souls! lmfao

EDIT: money isnt the root of all evil, in the 1400's the CHURCH created a system of taxes, making money important, before that , people traded for thier goods, if money is the root of evil , its because the CHURCH made it that way
