I son is 18mo and he takes one nap a day usually 3-5 hours after he wakes up in the morning, and sleeps for 1-5 hours.

Though one nap a day may not be enough for exhausted parents, it is all many babies need as they approach the first year, so you should consider this. Consider that also if your babies naps are not interfering with a good nights sleep, it may be o.k. Try putting him on a strict schedule. The number and length of naps your baby takes, however are less important than the total amount of shut-eye he gets. You have to consider how well he functions on the sleep that he is getting.

All children are different, but I think typically, at this age a child would only need one nap a day. I give my son his nap right after lunch because that is the time that he naturally gets tired.

1-2 depending on your child's sleep schedule. At this age you 15 month old might be trying to transition from two to one. That can be a little weird until they get settled in a new routine. There is a website where you can see the sleep requirements for babies. It's http://www.americanbaby.com/ab/story.jhtml?storyid=/templatedata/ab/story/data/58.xml&esrc=nwaspo&email=ctr8teacher@yahoo.com

It depends on how tired your baby is. My oldest took one each morning and one in the afternoon until nearly two. My youngest has only taken one since around his first birthday.
Remeber that the transition from two to one will wreak a little havoc for a few days.
