Former Secretary (a title you forgot to mention, apparently) cannot wear a private's uniform. You see, Secretary Rumsfeld already knows how to "do what ordinary soldiers do." Secretary Rumsfeld Retired as a Naval Captain (that's an O-6, or the equivalent of an AF or Army Colonel).

As to his performance as SecDef, I already know best answer on this one is going to go to someone who'll lamblast the SecDef without any knowledge whatsoever of the situation overseas. I've seen him speak in person. While he's alot shorter than I imagined, he's really a very compassionate and deep-thinking individual. On top of that, I've read plenty of documents and books on the Iraq conflict... not written by armchair critics, but rather by the military that fought there... and they all seem to concur: Secretary Rumsfeld was an able leader of the military who let his commanders below him make the decisions which needed to be handled by military generals.

Yeah Lincoln and Stanton should have been out there in uniform too.
The leadership in this country never takes responsibility for the wars they start. I would have liked to see stanton in some union blues holding a springfeild.

I say we wrap him in an American flag and drop him in the middle of Sadr City. That senile idiot couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. He has shown so much cowardice and disregard to the troops by underfunding this Bush folly. He should hang his head in total shame.

I think every male should have to serve in the military. Then Dem's could say they actually did something for their country.
