how can I help her to learn to go down the stairs? I have a bad back and it's been hurting me since I'm constantly lifting her up to go down the stairs to eliminate in the yard.

bulldogs have short legs and my back stairs are kinda steep so I'm worried she'll fall.

I don't have time for her to figure out the obsticale because then she'll be peeing on my enclosed sunroom.

This is a natural process and you probably shouldn't push it. Don't try to force her or she may become afraid of the steps forever. She's at the age where things like that will have a permanent effect. Get a brace for your back, or if possible avoid using the stairs at all. It probably won't take much longer before she gets comfortable. Try starting her with a shorter flight of stairs if there is one available. Good Luck!

Just get something that she really likes to eat and toss the treats to the bottom of the stairs or go down slowly coaxing her down each step. It may take her a few times to get the hang of it, but once she figures it out she will do it herself. If you can't get her to figure it out quickly, maybe try pee pads on the top of you stairs so she can go potty on that instead of you having to carry her down the stairs.
Just make her go slow, she won't fall unless she goes too fast. Also, the bulldog breeds are pretty sturdy.

My dog was 4 months old and she couldn't go up the stairs or go down (which was great because she was self-contained). I think the way she learned and I taught her was to kind of coax her down the steps with treats. I at times aso kind of guided her down the steps and up the steps. For example I took the front set of legs and placed them on the step, and the back set of legs and kind of moved them down . It was a slow gradual process but it worked a bit (worked for my boyfriend's boxer).

Try to block off the stairs so that she doesnt go up or down them. It is not good for a puppy to be going up and down the stairs at this age anyways and it will save you carring her. Puppys muscles and bones need more development and especially with such a small and young puppy she shouldn't be climbing or jumping high things.
Trust me on this one...blocking the stairs will save you alot of time and energy...it will be good for you and your little pup.
Good Luck!

If I were you, I would put her on the top of the stairs, then put something to block her from reaching the top floor so her only option is going down and when she reaches the bottom make sure she knows it is safe, and that you are proud of her.

First train her on a leash properly. Second, attach the leash and walk her down the stairs. Do not coax her. Do not coddle her. Do not be nervous for her. Just put her on the leash. Start walking her on leash from as far away from the stairs as possible. Do not hesitate when you reach the stairs. Just walk down. She will follow you if you have established yourself as a pack leader.

my pit bull mix done the same when she was a pup. as shes gets older she will get it. give her time. they are curious about the world but sometimes a little scared. you could also try standing at the bottom while she is at the top and tossing treats a step or 2 below where shes at and let her work her way down.

Don't lift her, coax her down the steps instead. If she thinks you're going to pick her up everytime, she'll have no motivation to figure the obstacle out for herself.
