I do not believe in holy books or dogma. I believe if there is a "God" then he wouldn't be who the, imperfect, Jedeo-Christian books make him out to be. With flaws, such as emotions, spite, greed, an ego and so on. "God" would be perfect. I am not sure if there really is a "God" but there had to have been some unseen driving force behind the BigBang. There has to be a reason laws exist in nature, something beyond science. I believe there is a good chance Jesus existed but he was just a great person, and not a prophet. Also I do not believe he would have wanted religions to spring up because of him. I believe we are only human and we make mistakes. There is no such thing as heaven and hell, but there could be something after we die, no one knows. And people shouldn't worry about what that thing is, we should live first and make the most of it. I believe we have so much potential.

I believe people so have much untapped potential. I

I also believe we can be "enlightened" ( but not the kind of, look at me Im, I am invincible type or not the I am close to God type lol) ,so to speak, through looking within, through our mistakes in life, through reason and discovery through being humble and through being yourself.

We shouldn't strive for "good" for fear of "God" but because it is the thing to do as a human being.

lol, there are a lot of arrogant, self-righteous answers here. Basically, a lot of water being poured into cracked pots...

You sound either agnostic, Buddhist, or Taoist. Have a careful look at each. Follow your own path... your heart and soul will open doors, you will meet new people, some will help and some will not. Read about agnosticism, have a look at Buddha's 8-fold path, and read the Tao te Ching.

If none of those appeal to you, keep looking. We all search our entire lives... some of us just grow ignorant and stop looking.

If you don't believe in holy books or dogma, how do you come to the conclusion that Jesus wouldn't have wanted religions to spring up because of Him? In biblical texts it's pretty clear he knew he was creating a new age.

I think you're characterization of God could be contested. I think we really don't understand His ways so we use terms and ideas that we're familiar with to try to understand. The problem is humans believe we are closer to God than we really are.

As far as your religion is concerned, you're probably Agnostic or Universalist (I'm not convinced there's a huge difference).

Sounds a little flakey to me no offense but you should continue to think
it through; too much syrup for waffles but how could you think there needs to be a driving force behind nature without a driving force behind the driving force / where is the logic . I do like your portrayal of Jesus but why the brainwashing still believes in part of the fantasy, I'm at a lost for. Nature is perfect without a "driving force " ie next time you go out driving on the freeway think what would happen if you took your hands off the steering wheel and let the driving force take over ....? I put my faith in your intellect as with others too but it will take generations .
peace out

You sound like an agnostic Deist.

Agnostic = someone who does not claim to know whether or not God exists.

Deist = A person who believes that any God that exists basically started the universe going, established the physical laws, and then took off and let things run their course.

I don't know your religion, but you sound d*mned smart, like me; I do not participate in organized religion, believe there is a "higher being" and heaven and hell are nonexistent but there is something else and that humans have so so so much untapped potential;

Continue to find your own way and believe what you want

You sound like me. I'm a Pagan slowly becoming Agnostic-Athiest. I don't know why, but I'm learning the truth about the world.

I believe in about 90% of what you say. I consider myself pantheistic...in other words, I believe in a higher being and respect all religions but follow none as the absolute.
