Yes it is but sometimes doctors speak in "doctor" and say things like "Anti inflammatory" which means it reduces swelling. Ice, (for no more then twenty minutes at a time) and raising above the heart will help too if it is a leg or an arm. Don't put the ice directly on the skin, cover the area with a towel first. Yes, Ibuprofin is an NSAID (Non-Sterroidal Anti Inflamitory Drug) along with Aleve (Naproxen) and Motrin (high strength ibu.). But use caution. Always take with food as they can upset your stomach and cause ulcers.

i am a woman wildland firefighter at the age of 37,10 years in my job i am a boss and at the end of a fire run of 14 days i depend on motrin.Everything hurts and is swolen when you hike 50 lbs on your back 5 to 7 miles a day for 14 days no dr. to be seen if there is no motrin advil liquid gels are the best . WE DO NOW ADVIL WILL HURT YOUR KIDNEYS I HAVE SEEN ALOT OF GOOD FIREFIGHTERS DROP ON THE LINE MAKE SURE YOU DRINK WATER!
