They also teach that Unions are unnecessary. Government educations are going to teach todays kids only what they want them to know. I choose to homeschool my kids. They have to watch Hannity and Colmes everyday so they can see both sides of an issue. I want them to be able to think for themselves and make decisions based on what they know rather than what they are told.

Well OBV the state and fed gov want slave workers not educated ones and parents stoped care'n along time ago when they decided they would take 2nd jobs ect just to get that new X-mass gift... There are a ton of reasons why we lost our moral values but the best way to keep and get them back is to remind ourselfs of the past and stop trying to move into the future so fast. Technology at some point could become beyound our humanity if it isnt already if we dont take time to understand it. The average person has 0 clue how any electrical systems work and thats a real shame. So basicaly we as humans need to start adapting to our envoiroment faster and if we cant do that then we should do our best to slow its advancement down. Both are hard but they will lead to great rewards if we can pull them off.

I was taught Civics in high school, and just about failed that class. I had a young new teacher that was sadly, mostly interested in trying to hook up with the football players instead of accurately teaching us. SERIOUSLY. To this day, I have hardly any idea how our legal system works and why.
Some of the problem in my opinion is the teacher's themselves. Schools are desperate to hire anyone, due to the shortage. That teacher, in turn, can pretty much teach us anything they'd like, as the school system, although follows guidelines on school subjects, rarely checks up on it anymore due to not wanting to loose a warm body in the teacher's seat. This is not the case for all, but for some it is.
We had a PE coach teach us typing, economics, driver's ed, and math. The man barely knew his a** from a hole in the ground, and many kids did poorly in his classes. Due to a shortage, it was the norm in our local towns. Our American History teacher taught us from her point of view, not what was in the books, and no one ever said a thing. If they can fix this problem, it will make a great difference on the minds of our youth.

Pal, it started waaaaay back before then. When I was a freshman in high school, it was called Problems of Democracy, or PD. I don't know who coined the phrase DEMOCRACY, but I think it could have been Woodrow Wilson. The changes from a Republic to a Democracy were subtle then and never shifted into high gear until that Communist, Madeline Murray O'Hara, I hope that is spell right, convinced the U.S.Supreme Court to take GOD out of our schools. That is when we as a nation started down the slippery slope to Hell in a hand basket.
She conned the Supreme Court into believing that Christianity should not be taught in school because of the separation of Church and State and the morons in the Supreme Court swallowed it. So what were the schools forced to teach? Darwinism and Evolution. We have been dumbed down ever since.

Civic responsibility has been degraded everywhere not just in
the U.S.What has happened is that personal opinions have crept into school lessons.Civic responsibilty should be taught as part of social studies.Todays young people in my country are
very conservative in their financial outlook. It did not happen as a result of deliberate dumbing down by any government in particular it came about through the pursuit of the almighty dollar.
Have we taught them to read the stock-market before they read
Dickens?.

I had a Civics class (9th grade, 10 years ago). I was not taught this. It doesn't surprise me some are taught this as I feel the public school system is a joke.

Everyone is being controlled, told what to think through government, media and entertainment industry because people are too selfish, too lazy, too scared to think for themselves.
