Marines concentrate on support of Marine ground forces. Navy does naval force protection. Both project seapower from bluewater to over the beach.

Well aside from the obvious that ones a "Jarhead" and the other is a "Squid"....
Marines Fly Helicopters, The MV-22 Osprey, The AV-8B Harrier, and the F/A-18 Hornet.
The Navy Flies all of that and just about everything else too.
Also the Navy flies all sorts of missions. The Marines Primarily fly CAS Missions (Close Air Support)
In Other words the Navy Wages war on its own terms as well as supports the war-fighting efforts of the other branches. The Marine Pilots on the other hand exist just to support the ground troops in contact.
A Navy Pilot goes to SERE school where he learns about Survival and evading the enemy if he is shot down.
A Marine Pilot first learns not only that, but all other aspects of ground infantry fighting. THEN he learns how to fly.
Ever Marine is first and foremost an infantry rifleman before all else.

Ones in the Navy, ones in the Marines. Totally different situations; mainly that most Marine Aviators (NOT ALL) fly rotary winged vehicles (helicopters) while naval has alot of fixed wings also (regular planes). Marine would be more involved w/ combat, while Navy (depending on the type of plane) would probably deal w/ transportation.

They both are trained by the navy and the marines are a branch of the navy. You will have a hard time getting a marine to admit that they are actually in the navy. When they finish flight training then the marines go to a marine squadron and fly for the marines most of the time. The navy does have some marine pilots training navy and marine pilots but they are under the navy command. In other words the marine pilots are assigned to navy squadrons when they are training pilots. the navy pilot flies strictly for the navy. I hope you understand all of this

The primary difference is your ride and training.
A Naval Aviator is a SPECIALIST in their particular ride. A MARINE of ANY flavor is trained and expected to be prepared at ALL times to pick up a piece, hump 20 clicks and take that hill. Then they fly.

During WWII there used to be but today they play a cooporative together. Both can perform close ground support for Marines. But you find most naval avaitors on carriers and marine aviators on land. But there mission can become one if need be.
