Odd as it sounds, some cats will lick Vaseline. I work for a vet and our hospital manager at one clinic where I worked several years ago used to just leave an open jar of Vaseline on her bathroom vanity. Two of her 3 cats would just go up and get a few licks. I thought she was just BS'ing me until I cat-sat for her! I saw her biggest cat Michael Angelo happily licking away.
When you realize that most commercial hairball meds are made with petroleum jelly (Vaseline), it's really not that weird. DO NOT give mineral oil-- it has no flavor, and cats can very easily aspirate it and develop life-threatening pneumonia.

Tips
-if you can, wash hair every other day or every two days-it just depends how oily your hair gets.
-leave conditioner on for 10 minutes at least and don't put it on roots.
-drink lots of water and eat a lot of protein such as meat and peanut butter cause your hair is made from protein.
-always use a leave in conditioner for split ends.
-trim hair once a month since split ends stops hair growth.
-use heat protection every time.
