I'm 24 and have had back pain since I was probably about 13 or 14. It varies in severity and location, but is usually in my lower to mid back and is just a constant ache. Other times I'll get an acute shot of pain, usually on a side of the lower back. What's the best remedy - chiropractor, acupuncture, exercises, etc? Any ideas are welcome! Thank you!

I don't think pain is the *only* remedy...there is love, laughter and the company of others that can work wonders on a broken soul. However, I do prefer to embrace the pain rather than numb my mind and body. All I would be accomplishing is ignoring the pain for awhile, not dealing with it. An unresolved issue that goes away on its own has a tendency of also coming back on its own as well. At least by embracing the pain I can thereby deal with it...with the help of family, friends, laughter and yes, probably a lot of tears.

You must try various modalities. For back pain, I don't think anyone has all the answers.A relatively unknown M.D. is a physiatrist(physical medicine and rehabilitation).Different people have been helped by medical doctors, osteopaths(who still practice manipulation) chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists ,yoga, rolfing and Feldenkreis method.
Pain can be debilitating and depressing .Are you doing any activity (sitting, standing ,lifting) that you can trace the pain to? . I hope I've been of some help.Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

You need to go to a hospital and have your back checked by an orthopaedic doctor. If the doctor allows it, have yourself undergo physical theraphy and most importantly, x-ray and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). Avoid trying to remedy yourself, because your back may get more seriously damaged. It's always best to have a professional doctor check on you.
