I remember reading a quote from I think a modern author, philosopher, musician, someone, suggesting the idea that Judas was the "true" son of god, as the sacrifice of creating such a universally hated figure to polarise people towards believing you was of greater meaning than the sacrifice of Christ.
Has anyone heard of such a quote? It was written in a fairly "dramatic" style I think, yet I can't find it anywhere.

This isn't a question about whether the above idea is right or wrong, rather one to ask if anyone has heard of a quote alone those lines? And if so, could they point me to it? Thanks

I don't mean to be rude here, so please don't take it as such, but for the umpteenth time oceanwoman, The statements made in the JD, The Seer (whatever that is), Mormon Doctrine and "elsewhere" (aka an anti site I can only presume), are not considered scripture by the church. They are God's representatives, it IS a serious job, but they are also men and do as all men/women/people in general do, they make mistakes. They are not ALWAYS "on" - meaning they are not always speaking on behalf of God. They are learning and growing and making mistakes (which can be the best teacher) just like the rest of us. When they are "behind the pulpit" or making an official statement on behalf of the church, they are speaking as God's representatives on earth. Otherwise they are just Tommy Monson, Hank Eyring, etc. Whatever it is that you do, you don't ALWAYS represent that aspect of your life, do you? If you are a nurse, are you ALWAYS on the look out for trauma cases, or whatever kind of nursing you practice. Or if you are a 3rd Grade Teacher, are you ALWAYS teaching people how to multiply and divide, how to sound out the hard words, and the order of the planets? If you are a lawyer are you ALWAYS a prosecuter or a defender - ALWAYS? 24/7? 365 days a year? Never taking a day or moment off? Are you also a Mom, in addition to whatever your occupation is? If you ARE ALWAYS a nurse, teacher, or lawyer or whatever, how can you ALSO be a Mom, a wife, a friend, a daughter, if you are ALWAYS a (whatever it is that you do as a profession)? And yet, seeing that you aren't ALWAYS any one thing - ONLY a Daughter, ONLY a Wife, ONLY a _______, why is it that you expect a prophet to ALWAYS and ONLY be a prophet - to the exclusion of everything else? Not everything that comes out of your mouth is that of a nurse/teacher/(profession), yet you expect a prophet to only speak the words of God and never be anything else. Why is that?

No, I haven't heard of this. I have heard recent scholarly debate as to whether or not Judas actually betrayed Jesus as we now know it or whether Jesus actually confided more in him then the other apostles and Judas was obediently following Jesus' commands to do what he did to bring about Jesus's crucifixion. They presented it as though Judas was just doing what God wanted him to do all along. Not that I agree, it's all that I've heard recently on Judas.

How about this quote:

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness,
who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter,
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.
