an IUD, is an amazing for of birth control that is not widely known. You get it inserted while on your period or the last day of your period and each one is different meaning that one can last 2 years, 3 years, 5 years all the way up to 10 years. But many insurances dont cover the cost, but in the long run you would save alot in the long run. There is the Depo shot u get an injection every 3 months which is some what controversial, in which if you plan to be on it for a lengthy time it has been known to cause bone density loss, and many insurances cover the cost of the injection. There is the Nuva Ring, its a contraceptive ring that fits around your cervix, which is on a one month basis, its pretty new so I havent heard anything bad about that. You could get fitted for a diaphram which covers your entire cervix....spermicides...female condoms....so many other options out there that are less invasive than a pill everyday, you should talk with your dr. about your different options

I have tried the pill and got pregnant (she is 11 and I wouldn't trade her for the world), had two planned babies, and then went on the birth control patch...and had TWINS! I wouldn't trade them either. Anyway, I wasn't 100% sure that I would NEVER want another baby so I opted for Mirena. It is an IUD and has a low dose of the birth control hormone in it. It lasts 5 yrs! The only problem I have had with it is my periods are out of wack a bit. They say after a year on it you will have very light to no period at all. I can't say that is the case for me, but hey, I don't have to remember to take anything :)

I know what you mean about not liking the pill...and the patch and the ring and 'the jab' ...even some IUD's have all the same hormones in them that the pill does, so side effects are still the same. I would personally recommend a new boyfriend....one who doesnt complain so much about getting laid.

There are so many options. They have the patch, the ring, and iud (good for 5 yrs) "mirena" also good for five years. foam, gel,, diaphram..... You need to go see an ob/gyn & get all the info & use something or you will end up going to the OB/GYN for a whole LOT more than you bargained for!! (if need be go to planned parenthood - they have all the answers you need & it's confidential! :) )

There is a patch now available for women...no pills involved. Also, there is the Depo shot. Of course, none of these protect against STD's.

Talk to your dr. about IUD. more that 99% effective. Expensive, about $800 out of pocket, but either no hormones or very little hormones. Lasts between F

Don't have sex. Even if you were on the pill and he didn't use a condom you would still be exposing yourself to STDS, HIV and HPV...Even if you use a condom you are STILL exposing yourself to HPV because it is spread by skin to skin contact rather than bodily fluids and can be spread even if the one who has it has an outbreak or not. One other note...HPV is also a cause of cervical cancer.

Many types of birth control, we use natural family planning. But, if you aren't married I'd advise condoms. Nothing else will protect you from STDs!!

And, with us, since we're married, another baby isn't a big deal! ;)
