There is this guy at work who is older and I like him and I believe he likes me too. (He's 42, I am 22) We hang out at work and we always go to lunch together. Well, two weeks ago, he asked me out. We were supposed to go out last Friday and he ended cancelling at the last minute. Instead of calling me, I had to call him to find out. (I think the only reason why he didn't call is because he was afraid my bfriend answering). . . . . .Also, I kept getting weird calls over the weekend from a blocked # and I have this feeling it was him.

He knows I have a boyfriend who I am about to break up with.

So he tells me we should only be friends at work, nothing outside of the workplace. Then he tells me he should not take me out considering that I do have a boyfroend and it would not be right.

So, its been a few days since this episode and I see him at work and he hardly hasn't said anything to me all week. He would say "Hey" and that's about it.

What do you think he is thinking?

He is probably running through various scenarios through his head just as you are! If you guys kicked it like that, then invite him to lunch, and ask him "hey what's up" or "is everything ok?"
give him an update of your situation and tell him that you noticed a shift in you guy's vibe and was just trying to get to the bottom of it because you really do like him as a person.

I would have to say first don't listen to those who would offer disrespectful comments. It is evident that you really like this guy. First age has no real bearing on your issue..My husband and I are not so different. He is forty two and I am twenty six. I had boyfriends but left them met him and when I was eighteen took him for my boy friend and now is my husband. We have 3 kids and have an excellent relationship. I think you should consider more what are you thinking. You will have to decide this guy or the boyfriend. Which thought makes you feel happy

I think he's re-thinking about being involved with you because of your boyfriend. It's no fun to always have to be watching your back, wondering if some young possessive crazed punk boyfriend is gonna show up and do something stupid.

I believe he is thinking "fresh young meat"...of a sorts.

The telltale sign of trouble is in your very first sentance.
He's 42, you're 22. Bad combo.

He already told what he's thinking "Then he tells me he should not take me out considering that I do have a boyfroend and it would not be right".
wait until you breakup with your boyfriend, you can't have your cake and eat it to.
