What's a good program to go through to teach English in China?

I was thinking next year I could do that and you can make alot of money, just mabye 3 months, I live in Canada. What is a good program that does that I can do it through

I am in my fourth year of teaching English in China. You'll never get rich unless you own an English school. If you are really frugal, you may pocket $1,000 in a year. There is no magic city or region. Teacher salaries are market-driven in China so in Shanghai, salaries are 20 percent higher than in western China but cost of living is 70 percent higher.

There are two types of certification for teching English. One is called "Foreign Expert" and, unless you find a school that can wiggle you in as an exception, requires a bachelor's degree in any subject. The other is "Foreign English Teacher" and has no exact requirements but is mostly limited to remote areas so you'd better be adaptable and a real go-with-the-flow type.

Maybe 70 percent of schools and universities have no TESL/TEFL/CELTA certificate requirements. If you are focused on a particular school that asks for a TEFL type certificate or you insist on working in Shanghai or Beijing where certification is more often required, you should get a certificate. There are literally dozens of institutions that offer them and some are online so some Chinese schools that are careful will know this and rule out the online-aquired ceretificates since they do not require classroom experience. The most highly-esteemed certificate is University of Cambridge CELTA that is now available from franchises in Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

If you only want to put in a year teaching ELS, a certificate is not really worth the three months salary you pay to get it. Also, one year experience will usually get you on the short list for job offers even from schools that list a certificate as a requirement. In my opinion, if you want to give it a shot and you have a bachelor's degree, just start researching where you want to teach and start sending out your C.V.

Dave's ESL Cafe is the big dog for job postings. He charges 75 bucks to list a job and no one else could get that much since he probably gets more traffic than the next five put together. Linguistic Funland will post a job for free but she also culls out the riff-raff so even though there are not as many postings, your chance of getting tricked into a dead-end job are much less. China TEFL Network is perpetually out of date but they show contact info for dozens of schools and unis so if you want to flood the legitimate schools with your C.V., go there. Best time to fish for a job is March-May after renewal offers have been turned down by incumbent teachers.

Hi. There are some good programs out there, and some not so good programs. I'm assuming that you don' have a degree in this or even a TESOL certificate, so you can expect to make anywhere from $300-$600 USD per month, depending on program, your experience, location, etc. But along with teaching, you can set up individual lessons and make a little extra money.

Why no longer move to Taiwan as an alternative? More precise tradition,much less more likely to get stabbed, may not get shoved in strains everyday, may not be within the nation with essentially the most deaths in keeping with auto, gets extra money, you are lungs may not burn, much less more likely to get stabbed, you are much less more likely to get meals poisoning, stabbed....

just talk english with chinese people...they will hire u as private teacher...at least u will have 25$ / hour
