Well, the best thing would be to go to the dentist but I can understand how hard it is to get an appointment convenient for a busy schedule. Keep it really clean. Brush after each meal but be careful not to break skin (infections).

Make an appointment for your dentist's first available after the holidays. Keep it as clean as you can. Don't wait more than a few weeks. The tooth structure that has been exposed is much more decay prone than your healthy enamel. Brush it after every meal and keep the sweets to a minimum. Just because you can't get into your dentist now doesn't mean you can't make an appointment now! Happy Holidays.

MUCH OF THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION DEPENDS ON HOW LARGE THIS FILLING IS. IF IT'S SMALL, KEEP IT CLEAN UNTIL YOU SEE A DENTIST. IF THE FILLING IS ON THE EDGE OF THE TOOTH, THEN IT MAY COME OUT IN THE FUTURE.THIS PART OF THE TOOTH ACCEPTS A LARGE AMOUNT OF STRESS WHEN BITING OF CHEWING.

Go as soon as you can You do not want it to get bigger or break. Even a temporary is better than nothing. Go to drugstore they have temporary lost filling material in the dental aisle. it is premixed to hold you until you see your dentist.
