Oh. Allow me to explain.
The Pagans originally held the Winter Solstice and Yule festivals within several days of each other. The christians, outraged that people were allowed to do so, tore the Pagans apart and stole the holiday and "christened" it Christmas.
The whole point is the celebration of the sun gods of Paganism. The whole point is jesus in christianity.
The Pagans have been around for much longer than any other belief system or religion out there.
Christmas, technically, is a relatively new idea.

Christmas is right around the time of the winter solstice, when the sun is lowest in the sky. Many cultures, thousands of years before jesus, marked this as the end of the year - the new year starting when the sun began to get higher in the sky the next day. The solstice has always been a pagan traditional holiday, and christians decided to declare xmas at the same time to hijack the holiday. So it became christmas with the begining of the christian religion, but it was a holiday thousands of years before that already.

The December holiday was originally a pagan celebration of the winter solstice, the return of the sun. Christianity adopted the holiday and many of the customs and tied it all to the birth of Christ, although he was probably born in springtime.

Yes. You are the only one out of the loop. Everyone else knows that christmas was adapted from the Pagan religions of Yule, and the Celebration of Mithras' birth, and others.
Do the research.

yes christmas is a religious holiday.and a pagen holiday. what happened is this-jesus was actually born in the spring, april i believe, the pagens had always celebrated the winter solstice. somewhere along the line, a pope,of all people, decided to combine the two, presumeably,to bring more celebration to the solstice.so even though the winter solstice was celebrated before the birth of jesus, it wasn't until his birth that we started to call it christmas.

"Nothing in Christianity is original. The pre-Christian God Mithras - called the Son of God and the Light of the World - was born on December 25, died, was buried in a rock tomb, and then resurrected in three days. By the way, December 25 is also the birthday or Osiris, Adonis, and Dionysus. The newborn Krishna was presented with gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Even Christianity's weekly holy day was stolen from the pagans."
