I see a lot of Christians trying to get gay marriage outlawed, with the constitution changed against it and everything. However, I also hear from the same people that all sin is equal, and that everyone is a sinner. Why then make gay marriage illegal? Since all sin is equal, shouldn't you Christians be trying to get shirts made of two different fabrics outlawed? (Deuteronomy 22:11 Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woolen and linen together.)

Seriously, if all sin is equal, shouldn't you be spending an equal amount of time going against people wearing these shirtly abominations as you do gays. Also, if all sin is equal, why do Christian abortion doctors (because most of them are) go to hell? I keep hearing this from people.

Well Christians?

JITOW: It doesn't matter that it's in the old testament, according to Jesus... "Mat 5:18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."
So, I ask you to give me a new explanation because that one is made void by your own bible. Oh, and don't use all caps, it's rude.

It infuriates me. If you are against gay marriage then do not marry a gay person. Otherwise it is not their business.

How dare anyone try to put their idiotic, archaic, ridiculous, and asinine religious beliefs in our laws!!!!!

What two consenting adults do together, be it sex or marriage, is no ones business but the two people involved.

How dare these idiots claim to speak for God. That is just a bunch of crap. No one has any idea what God feels about anything. The bible was written by men. NOT GOD!!!!!!!!

I'm Christian but that's just a technical term, I haven't gone to anything involving religion in over 14 or so years. You're right, we have grown as a country (and World) on the marriage issues, which is why you answered your own question... It may take us a while, but I hope one day it will not only be common but also normal to see gay couples/families everywhere, just as interracial marriages and etc. have become welcomed. There is something that is peculiar though. Was polygamy and/or interracial marriages and relationships forbidden "way back when" because of religion, I'm not sure, I think it was just considered "unconstitutional". The argument you made mention of before, 1. A miserable and abusive straight family (very common) 2. A happy and loving gay family (very common) Was indeed a good one, I stress to my friends (if it comes up, and we really don't get into it because of conflicts) that Why should we be allowed to abuse our families and mostly get away with it when they don't even have a chance to become one? Anyways, I completely agree with your statements and hope that someday we will get past this. (P.S. some people are so Catholic they won't ever change their minds, on anything.)

1st, you can't take all the things written in the bible literately. The part you mentioned was adapted for those days. If you notice shirts and pants are make for men and women in a different way, is up to you to wear them or not. About the gay marriage is wrong, period, not using a bible argument we can tell that matrimony is the social cell to keep society and humanity, What can come out from a gay relationship? You can not make a balanced family in a gay relation, no future can be seen from a gay relation. May be, as many say, they can look for adoption, stills, this's the acceptance that only the relation among men and women cam have fruit. Gay relation are just the detrimental election of 2 people from the same sex, they want to live together, fine, but you can't use social institution of matrimony to legalize a relation that don't make our society, either humanity, grow. Abortion isn't a sin just because Christians think so, is wrong because is to reaffirmed that you can be having sex like crazy and not having any responsibility for your acts. There are many methods to avoid pregnancy, use them, Why a baby has to pay with his/her life the stupidity of 2 people who couldn't stop at the gas station, pharmacy or drug store to buy a box of condoms.

Perhaps you are using the bible in the same way Christians do, to support a point of view that's wrong, you aren't to far away from them.

It is usually a latent homosexual who is the one who hates it the most. I think Christianity has so much influence over peoples lives that they simply follow the teaching of the church leader and forget that there are different trains of thought and people who believe, just as strong as they do, that another set of beliefs is right.
I am gay, It is not by choice nor am I ashamed of being gay. Who I am physically attracted to is not who I am, just a part of whatever it is in a human that makes us all individuals.
Civil union or gay marriage should be legal, each church could choose if they would perform the cerimony or not and people would have the same legal rights to build a future, tax and work benefits, etc.

Well if you want an honest answer, I think your a bit all over the board. Deuteronomy is old testament, written to jews and the question was posted for christians to answer.

All sin can send you to hell. But a christian does not designate himself "homosexual" any more than a christian designates himself "incessant worrier" or "glutton". If your a christian you should designate yourself a "child of God" and leave the worldly labels to the world. If you are having weaknesses in the area of lust and sexual sin, then you should seek help, not embrace the sin. You don't see people going around trying to get drinking and driving legalized. You don't see christians saying, "legalize children smoking". It's immoral and a homosexual trying to get the world to embrace their sin is a far cry than a christian seeking help with a sin they are caught in.

Throughout the course of religious history, there have always been certain sins that the moral majority scrutinized more then others. In today's social mores, homosexuality and abortion are the hot topics of debate. But your point is well taken. Could it be that humans single out particular sins that trouble them the most because those sins (people) frighten them the most?

I have never heard of a person getting AIDS from wearing two different fabrics but I have heard of gay activity causing it. If a person gets angry and spouts off with a bunch of four letter words their words would be considered in poor taste, wrong, sin. If a person gets angry, pulls out a gun and starts shooting people, it's called murder. Neither reaction goes in the "plus column" but one makes the news and can put you in jail and the other doesn't. Both are wrong, but the ill effects they both have is entirely different. If a doctor preforms abortions his Christianity might well be in his mind but not in his soul.

I am not anti-abortion and I don't believe physicians who perform abortions are going to hell. I am not a religious zealot. Although I have my own religious views, I respect the views of others.
But I do oppose gay marriage because I believe it is a fraud against the concept of marriage and opens up legal and social cans of worms that are better left unopened. Religion doesn't come into it at all.
So there.

I think you need to ignore "people" and read the Bible so you will know what you're talking about next time. You don't make a whole lot of sense.
