Let me just say that I am not Muslim, but I respect their sense of modesty.

I don't know if I'm a "feminist" but I'm American, and not a Muslim but I thoroughly respect Muslim women. I think they are very graceful, and have the true grace of a woman. They are modest, and because of this commitment to modesty and to their faith, they are very beautiful.

There is such a thing as muslim femininsm, too.

Islam is practised in various ways in different places. To ask a question that simplifies things to this extent is, to me, a way of cheapening the comcept of feminism itself, as well as the concept of individuality.

Please read books writen by the authors I mention, (this is a partial list) and then reconsider your question: As you read them, ask yourself why you feel that your question doesn't also apply to the women within any fundamentalist or evangelical group.

I sincerely advise you to get an unabridged copy of the Koran in English and mark the verses you think are negative towards humanity and rephrase your question.

Why should a woman have to cover herself because some man cannot control his thoughts? It is ludicrous.

I suppose you support not allowing women to drive or be educated!

Muslim women are free...

No need to impress men at every given moment. No need to dress and act certain ways in order to be "women".

Ah, the hijab is a wonderful thing.
