I was thinking about getting a cross for a tattoo. Since it has to last with me forever i think i will get a cross. I was wondering if it would hurt on the shoulder/sidearm or getting it on the chest

Coming from somone who has about 15 tats, yes, they hurt. All of them. Some places are more sensitive than other. inner arm, over boney areas, inner thigh seem to be the worse. Fatty places and meaty areas (like calves or deltoids) do not hurt as much.

Sorry to say it, but a tattoo on your hip bone WILL hurt.Generally the more flesh there is, there less it'll hurt and directly onto your hip will not be pleasant. From your other question I gather that it'll be script, so the pain shouldn't last long at all - maybe 5 - 10 minutes and then it'll be over. Good luck!

You will be having a needle repeatedly forced in and out of your skin...I think it might hurt a little. I have not had a tattoo but I have had several piercings. All of them hurt (some more than others), so I can imagine a tattoo will hurt no matter where you get it. But, I think the amount of pain differs from one area of the body to the next as well as from one person to the next. So, I think you are really not going to know until it happens.

I have a tattoo on my shoulder and it didn't hurt at all. The side of the arm is somewhat painful (in some people) but the chest would hurt the most. However it all depends on how well you are with pain. But if you want to try to avoid pain as much as possible avoid getting tattooed on you, ribs, armpit, knee cap, and back of the knee

I had a cross applied just below the collar bone on the right side of my chest 4 months ago while in Maui. It was more uncomfortable than painful and there wasn't any lingering pain once it was finished. Just be sure to make sure that the studio and artist follow sanitary practices and follow their directions for care and you'll be fine.

The best i can describe it is like this. When you shave, and cut yourself, and water gets in it... its that type of burning. Ofcourse some areas are more painfull than others, but from what i've heard genrerally the shoulder doesn't hurt too bad. I think your chest would be more painful. And from what i've heard your side- right on top of your ribs, is the most painful! Good luck!

I have one on my lower back right on the bone, and it didn't hurt; I didn't even know the tattoist had started, I thought he was marking really hard with a ball point pen over and over.

My man has one on his sidearm, and he didn't flinch much. Depending on what you get done, the process is fairly quicker than you'd expect it to be.

It is more annoying than painful, I liken it to a cat scratch, if you were to keep getting scratched over and over in the same spot.

Good luck! And watch out, they're addictive!

Some people say that getting a tattoo hurts but its a good pain....if that makes sense to you....i would imagine it would hurt but if you get a tattoo make sure you get it at a safe place....you wouldn't want it to get infected or anything....i think a cross is a great tattoo to have! =)
