We are getting crushed in both wars and we have yet to make any changes to improve our strategies. Everyone (with a brain) is all ticked off about the Iraq wars lies and failures but no one is freaking out about the war on drugs?
Do you think this kind of scrutiny on the war on drugs might birth some improvements?

War on drugs? Good luck winning that w/ the Democrats in Congress.

You people made a choice in the elections (regarding to your question) to stop Operation Iraqi Freedom or the War on Drugs (OIF meaning Reps, WOD meaning Dems). But hmm; looks like you all made the wrong choice. Because the Demorcats flip flopped on you and didnt even try to stop the Occupation (notice I didnt say War); instead they tried to reinstate the draft haha. So now; America has to deal w/ both; good job.

There has been a great deal of evidence to show that the CIA is actually involved in both wars , but not the way you think.

During Vietnam it was shown that the CIA was transporting heroin and gold for anyone who met their needs, and they are also involved in the war on drugs but on whose side is questionable.

I have no doubt that the CIA and other groups such as this finance themselves through drug money and possibly illegal ARMs deal( The Contra Affair and Oli North).

Given its strike power I do believe the USA could destroy all the columbian cocaine fields so why doesnt it? It is not out of any feeling for the Colombians surely.

lets face it when you look ate the jobs and resources that are created fighting the drug war what would happen then if the war was won?

The war on drugs is Like Iraq , it will never be won, occasionaly it will get a bloody nose but it will always get up.

death penalties and extended prison terms are not deterents so where to from there? education..minimum effect, peer group pressure..not always positive, families...not with the disfunctionality in todays society.

I think the real solution is for the major countries to stop spending on military and strengthening the social structures within their countries and addressing unemployment, eductaion, hospitals and social services.

Maybe then people wont be interested in using drugs to find a way out of their situations.

Ya know, this is an interesting question. For me, i have a few problems with the war because we face many problems here at home that aren't being addressed. There are people here without healthcare, yet we can spend billions on other countries...we have people living on the streets, we have teenage prostitues, children who are abused....i want to see a better america. I know we here have it far better then some....but i still think we have things here on the homefront that need addressed. There are streets here in the town i live in, i wouldnt walk down in the dark.... my husband who is a soldier in the army, had to go away to other countries, while im afraid to sleep with the windows open during the summer. Its a harsh world sometimes, but i pray everything gets better, and although i don't support the war, i support our troops and i guess thats all i can do. Great Question!

War on drugs is difficult to win. On the one hand you have Ameircans that want the freedom to use them. To stop them you have to either educate them better or make it legal. To stop the more dangerous importing from South America and pushing it on those who would not want to try if it were not availible you must go down in those Central American Countries and provide dreams just as real for those People recruited to believe in.If they have a choice between doing something else they may be much less people willing to grow and bring that junk up here. That part is never understood by the American people as long as somebody wants to use the stuff it will be here. Which makes it to bad for those who dont but get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time

It is a fact that United States agencies including the C.I.A. are profiting from illegal drug trades. The so called "War on Drugs" was just a propaganda ploy for the simple-minded, to keep illegal drug prices "black market" elevated, and to allow pharmaceutical companies monopolies over treatments. Trust me, as a well educated nurse, a joint is far better for the human body than a Valium or a Viagra or a Bud Lite.

The War on Drugs has been going on for 40 years and it costs us billions every year and no positive results as far as I can tell. That's one war I wish we'd cut and run from.

The War on Terror will be going on for as long as it takes to stop these murdering cowards who hide behind women and children and strap bombs to retarted kids and animals. Actually, the most recent reports show just how much good we've done in Iraq. A growing economy, businesses and people working and living in peace for the first time in their lives. But it's a long road ahead. As long as Iran keeps trucking bombs into Iraq we'll be fighting them there.

I'm glad the Dems & Reps decided together to increase forces there. We need to just bust @ss and clean up that place once and for all.

To me it's like having termites in your house. Don't talk to them about leaving and don't do half the job. You gotta get rid of every one of them or it's a waste of time and effort.

Dude, the United States police and federal forces could eliminate ALOT of the drug activity in the states if they wanted to. Are you an officer? If so, the truth is that some of your powerful superiors and co-workers are funding some of these illegal drug operations and not only that, but they will continue to do so because they make alot of money doing it.

Oh but wait. Thats just fiction and propaganda, right?

Anyway, if you want to continue your war on drugs, target the US Pharmaceutical Companies.

Agree with you, but in order to win the war on drugs would involve us attacking some other countries and what do you think the people would say then??

SOME NATIONS ENCOURAGE TERRORISM AND DRUG TRADE. IF SUCH ACTS ARE DISCOURAGED COLLECTIVELY,THEY WILL CEASE TO BE PROTECTOR .THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO WIN THIS WAR.

Both wars were lost because we chose non-enemies to attack (Iraq & marijuana).
