www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip1059.htm

There is a multitude of information in that website about perms. Personally, I have witnessed family members and friends getting perms. From my experience, I wouldn't recommend it. If you are looking to grow out your hair in the near future, don't get it done. It will damage your hair. There is chemicals in it, no matter how many salons or stylists tell you there is "natural ingredients." Sure, about 5% is natural ingredients. It alters the DNA of your hair, there is no way it won't damage the follicles. Problem is, curling irons damage hair too.

If you decide not to go with it, I can give you a little tip to have some pretty fantastic waves.
When you get out of the shower, grab small bunches of hair and twist them (for smaller curls), or taking your entire head of hair and twist it (for larger curls), then roll it into a bun, and tie it with a scrunchy. NOT a hair bands, these will leave an ugly crease. Sleep with it over night. When you wake up, if it is still wet, blowdry it still locked in a bun. Then let it out. Oh also, when you twist the hair put some sort of leave in conditioner in. It will help to make it stay.

:) Good luck with your wave adventure.

OMG, please do not get a perm. I got a perm about 2 years ago and it damaged my hair so bad. It made my hair come out, plus the solution they put on it made my hair break off. Up above my neck, the hair broke off down to my scalp. It made my hair so dryed out that conditioner wouldn't work. I had to end up cutting hair short so it would grown the same length. That is when the patches of short hair grew to about 2 inches. A perm is not a good idea.

A perm involves heating the hair and if done incorrectly can singe the hair. The hair if damaged will tend to take longer to grow back but over time hair growth will fix the problem.

Yes a perm will damage your hair. Be careful and make sure a proffesional does it. Also get a very good conditioner, for afterwards.

I believe any chemical put in your hair will damage if you don't put it in correctly and take it out correctly. I chemically straighten my hair and sometimes it breaks off and damages my hair. Be sure that you get a professional to put the perm in if you are not use to it.

i was a hairdresser for 27 yrs so i know for a fact that perming your hair does not damage it if it is done right. I am hoping u get it done professionally because if it is done by someone that doesn't know what they r doing they could easily damage it and wouldn't know what to about it if they did. So think about it and good luck!!!! Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!
