Jesus uses that phrase all the time. But what is he talking about? This life or the next? What is it?

The kingdom of God can refer to Heaven it also can refer to Christ' Millennial rule on the earth which precedes the kingdom of heaven and happens after his second coming.

When Jesus spoke about the Kingdom, he was refering to a government that will take over rulership of the the earth... for eg in the Our Father Prayer, notice he said "thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" ... meaning let your kingdom come, let your will take place in heaven also on earth.
This kingdom, will consist of 144,000 rulers in heaven who were "bought from the earth"(rev:14:1-3) and an earth that will be filled with righteous people.

The Kingdom of Heaven and God is the same place first of all. Secondly it is Heaven. God is the king of us all so Jesus is referring to our "home" or where we will go after we die when we are saved by Him.

By that, he is supposedly referring to where u r supposed 2 go in the next life. I think that Heaven is used to comfort those who are in the Christian belief. I, personally, don't believe in all that.

Philosopically, being in the kingdom of God would mean that you have served your purpose on earth and you are worthy or you have achieved the goal of man and that is Union With God.

Hi shakyerboutte. God tells us the Kingdom of Heaven is like a wedding feast. In Matthew 22:1-3 we read:

"Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: 2"The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. 3He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come."

God goes on in Matthew 22:11-14 to tell us more of this parable:

"But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12'Friend,' he asked, 'how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' The man was speechless. 13"Then the king told the attendants, 'Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' 14"For many are invited, but few are chosen."

This parable is a portrayal of what the Kingdom of Heaven is like. The King is God. The wedding feast represents Heaven. The wedding garment represents the salvation each one receives. When the King sees this person who is not clothed with the Righteousness of Christ (the wedding garment), he immediately binds him hand and foot and casts him into outer darkness (Hell). This is also what Jesus is teaching in Matthew 7:21-23:

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"

Many will say to God in that day that they belong in Heaven, but will suffer the same fate as this wedding guest.

The next life. Spiritually we can make Him ruler of our lives, but in the next world He will physically rule over the earth, from the earth, in Jerusalem.

The Kingdom of God is in heaven
and Jesus Christ is in charge of it having been put in charge by God,and it is the new government of the earth that will rule forever and will bring many grand blessings to mankind very soon, but of course that is very soon in God's eyes and time, we are living now very near the grand climax of the establishment of this kingdom of God these are just some of the benefits this kingdom will bring(Revelation21:1-4) God will wipe away every tear from the faces of humans there will be no more pain , suffering or mourning anymnore, and God will actually swallow up death and hadies (mankinds grave /hell), will all be done away with, so will all the problems that are plaguing mankind in this old system of things, even Satan and his demons/ fallen angels which Satan convinced to join him in his rebellion of God. they will all be bound up in the Abbyss for a time before they are all completely destroyed forever. so that they cannot cause anymore trouble for humans! To bring these things about that God has promissed, God's Messianic kingdom ruled by Jesus will bring these things about through its rule over the earth so this kingdom of God is Gods government over which Jesus will be in charge for a thousand years, and then Jesuswill hand it back to God, within that thousand years Jesus will be in Charge of bringing about all the promises I spoke of earlier, including the cleaning up of the earth and making it into a paradise earth, getting rid of all sicknesses and the many problems that plague us today, and we will be slowly becoming healthy and moving back to perfection and how we were initially in the beginning made or Created by God.
To be God’s friend, you need to learn about him. Do your friends know your name and use it? They do. God wants you to know and use his name too. God’s name is Jehovah. (Psalm 83:18; Matthew 6:9) You must also learn what he likes and dislikes. You need to know who his friends are and who his enemies are. It takes time to get to know someone. The Bible says that it is wise to set aside time to learn about Jehovah.-Ephesians 5:15, 16.
God’s friends do what is pleasing to him. Think about your friends. If you treat them badly and do the things that they hate, will they continue to be your friends? Of course not! In the same way, if you want to be God’s friend, you need to do what is pleasing to him.-John 4:24.
Not all religions lead to friendship with God. Jesus, who is God’s closest friend, spoke of two roads. One road is wide and is filled with people. That road leads to destruction. The other road is narrow and has few people traveling on it. That road leads to everlasting life. This means that if you want to have God’s friendship, you must learn the correct way to worship him.-Matthew 7:13, 14.
