i believe orbs are spirits.they are harmless..usually they watch over the person they are surrounding.

Orbs were rare spherical gems found in the Northern plains of Scandanavia and Europe, most are in private ownership or destroyed for sorcery purposes.
The biggest one recorded was a large blue one found in present-day Finland approximately the size of a basketball, commonly called the god's tear.
